Easiest way to open a new tab in FireFox is to click on the mousewheel, either on the link, bookmark, or when you type in the address bar you mousewheelclick on the arrow or the "go-to" thing.

Dunno if this is standard or I configured it this way without knowing or remembering.

I find Ctrl + T is even easier!
