DVDFAB HD Decryptor not ripping to ISO

So last night after work i purchased the movie Max Payne. I watched it and liked it.

So, as habbit of mine is, I went to make a backup copy of the movie for myself. The version of DVDFAB HD Decryptor I had would not rip the movie due to the copy protection stuff. ok, w/e. so i went to d/l the latest version of DVDFAB HD Decryptor from here. After installing the program, i set it to rip the ISO image to the directory of my choosing and started the rip into an ISO image.

15min. min later, it the program completes it's thing and tells me that the operation was successful. i'm thinking "awesome!" So, i go to check the directory, and nothing is there. i'm like, wtf?! so, i go to my sister's computer install the program and go through all the motions just as i did before on my computer, wait another 15min. or so. and it happens again! now this time, i was a bit confused and upset.

anybody have any ideas as to why it didn't rip my DVD into an ISO? is there an alternative program out there that will make this work out for me?

AnyDVD works in the background, so as you copy the DVD it rips the protection as you do so. 'Course, that's all it does. If you want to archive it to a DVD5 you still need to use a program for that besides AnyDVD.

Personally, I hate DVDFabs compressor, so I don't use if for DVD5 archiving instead sticking with DVDShrink (that brings up an interesting question: are you doing a DVD5 or DVD9 ISO?). So, usually I do the following:

1) Rip files with DVDFab to a hard drive, but not to an ISO image. If I want just the movie, so no menus/extras, I do it with DVDFab (Shrink always screws this up).
2) Shrink with DVDShrink.
3) Burn with Nero.

Maybe it ignored the save directory and put it somewhere else?

AnyDVD coupled with imgburn could make an iso for you, I only ever use DVD Shrink (or any other transcoder for that matter) if I'm shrinking a DVD by a few percent to get it to fit the blank DVD. Any more than that I use a program called DVD Rebuilder and its built in encoder HC Enc...it's much slower than Shrink because its an encoder not just a transcoder but believe me the quality is brilliant!

Is it worth getting DVD Rebuilder Pro over the free one?

I did, but I suppose it depends how much you use it, I got it when it was $10 a couple of years ago. Why not try the free one first and see what you think...

The free version of DVDFAB HD Decryptor only provideds DVD9.

All i really want is the ISO image of the disk. like, as if it were the full blown movie on my HDD as if it were the DVD.

DVDFAB HD Decryptor didn't really do this for me. which is what i was wanting to do.

@ Al_Vampyre: i thought of this already. so, i went to the documents folder in vista, and saw a directory for DVDFAB HD Decryptor, but there were no ISO files or any other kinds of VOB or TS_VIDEO files or anything. there were two folders, but they were empty. and yes, i did select the "show hidden files" option as well.

Thought you probably would have mate...just checking!

I would go for AnyDVD to decrypt the disc on the fly and use Imgburn to make the ISO
