I've been trying the current latest version of Maxthon 2 (2.5.3) from having used eariler 2.x editions for a year or two. The short description would be an IE engine based browser with lots and lots of built in optional features and customization settings, and in the long run that has fit my wishes of a browser very well.
While I've for instance enjoyed the smallness of Chrome it's also very limited. And with Firefox I'd need a ton of plugins to do what I want. Only Opera has come anywhere near with some configurability out of the box and a nice rendering engine, but in spite of all the work to standardise the web it's still on overall catering primarily to what Internet Explorer can and can not do. Here's an example of what my custom browser window looks presently looks like. Sorry for the width but I couldn't make it much more narrow with the way I have it done. ![]() Another very useful feature is the highlight function for the page search. Whenever I'm without that it feels like a pain to search for a particular recurring word on a long page. Like this: ![]() If you feel at all interested in giving another browser a go and something above seems appealing then by all means give this a chance. A cosmetical bug in the current version is present regarding Windows 7's Aero Look where the window appears empty and transparent, but that should be solved in a later version. |

Re: Recommending Mathon 2.5.3 web browser.
I've been using Maxthon since its early 1.xx versions and I wouldn't change to other browser. I tried Firefox and Opera and didn't like them.
Like mkk pointed out Maxthon is extemely customizable and has many features out-of-the box for which you would need additional plugins in other browsers. One of the features I like is the Super drag&drop - when I want to search for something on a page I simply select the text and drag&drop it - a new tab is opened with google search for that word. The integrated RSS reader and the text collector (in-browser notepad) are usefull too. I can only recommend

will give it a try. I liked chrome very much especially the way it auto-completes the writing of the url and the history
