Word 07 opens slow on XP...
I'm sure there's probably a couple threads out there regarding this however the search only allows 30 seconds in between and is timing out on after a bit....
Anyway, I'm having some issues with opening files that are on either the local drive or network drive. Doesn't seem to matter where they are. Takes anywhere between a minute to two to open them. I've looked around on the net and a ton of people are having this issue with different fixes that seem to work however none of them are for me. I've tried moving the network printer to a local IP printer and that didn't work, I've tried the DDE fix (which did seem to work at my work however is not at home) so I don't know what the issue is. I've disable all mapped drives to the server and tried opening up local files which didn't make a difference at all. Any suggestions or places to look at? I've looked at MS's site and that didn't help at all regarding this. I hated the way that Office 2007 was at first but now that I've gotten used to it, I really don't care to move back to 03 but if I can't find a fix for this, I'm going to. This is on all doc/docx files, not just one or the other but all. I've unplugged the network cord removed all printers/ drives and it still happens. I've created test files in 07, saved them as 07 files and the launch is less but still kind of nuts (40-50 second launch times). I'm not sure what else I can do ahead of time to fully test this or find a fix for this. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple of times both with compatibility mode enabled and disabled and that doesn't make a difference. Jand. |

Re: Word 07 opens slow on XP...
I'm tempted to say your computer is slow but here....
- Uninstall OFFICE 2007 and reinstall from scratch (when I say uninstall, I mean also delete the leftover files/folders and run ccleaner) - Defragment your hard disk, run a full ccleaner to remove temp files before that... clean registry with ccleaner too - Check your startup ... what's running? is there a lot of useless junk like java update, qttask, adobe speed launcher etc...? - Reinstall OFFICE 2007. |
