Newbie question time!

What exactly does the 9700pro to the 9800 hack do?

wow that question was shorter then I thought so i figure ill throw in some more text and just ramble on and on about nothing in particualr to make it look like im not wasteing space in a post so uh... anyone here ever played subspace?
