Recommend a free partition manager
I need to help a friend resize a disk partition on Windows Vista, I've been out of the loop for a while on partition managers, so I hope someone can help. The requirements of the app should be:
- free (or a workable free trial) - resize partition without losing data - easy to use, don't want it to be too technical - reliable Thanks in advance! |

Windows, depending on what you're doing with the partition. Not technically free but you don't pay extra.

Re: Recommend a free partition manager
Don't know about Vista, but I just checked the disk management tool in Windows 7 and it really appears to be able to resize partitions without data loss. I didn't know that.

Re: Recommend a free partition manager
Win7 does have some tricks up it's sleeve...... but I still go back to Easeus because of it's disk/partition copy utility. I was able to move my Win7 to a smaller drive when I got an SSD which Windows own backup/restore or disk copy wouldn't let me do. Two+ hours of wasted time vs. 10 minutes and done. No brainer there

Re: Recommend a free partition manager
You're probably going to already, but make sure to take a backup of everything remotely important before proceeding with any such utility.
