GMan[CSR] is on a distinguished road

Is SP1 or SP2 really worth it?

I just reformatted and at the time when I installed SP1 I wasn't even sure what it did, and it had little or no effect on my performance from what I noticed. Is it worth installing it on this fresh copy of Windows?

I have heard reports from many people saying that they have gotten at least a 20% performance boost from the service pack.

If you want Blue Tooth or correct USB 2.0 support SP1 is a must plus you don't have to download 150 meg of updates from MS.

I have been told that a tweaked XP system is faster without installing SP1 or SP2.
I have allways installed Sp1a so I cant say if its true.

Well would you rather have a nice fast system that has bugs a security holes that may lead you to re-doing your system again soon due to a virus or something....or would you rather be a little slower but not have to re-do your system so soon? All the tests and reports I have read show a very minimal change between an un-patched and a patched system..... be safe and patch.....

It is a MUST for you to put on SP1. reasons being......security patches, DirectX issues, USB 2.0, driver compatibility, stability.........MS makes sure that they keep you coming back.....whether you want to or not!

wow this is an old post, but heres my 2 cents. Most people claim a treaked windows system is better by not installing the sps 1 or 2. Just go to windows update and get the latest updates that you need for your particular problem or issue. As most of the things in sp1 or 2 never get used and just take up space.

But this is just my 2 cents. When i used sp1 i had nothing but problems, so i just updated what i thought i needed.
