Hi,
Today I Found a tweak from "yiNXs" (who should get all the credit) wich actually resolves the "xp mouse acceleration bug". Most people who play games like quake3 and counterstrike know what I mean. There were some workarounds, but they never satisfied me. If you don't believe it; try it yourself! Here is the tweak: Background (yiNXs) The tweak was found by finding a logic order in the 64-bit hexa-decimal values at the below regestry-entries. When trying different values, you should come up with a diagram wich displays a curve, this is the unwanted acceleration. Adjusting the values that the curve becomes a straight line rosolves the mouse-acceleration. 1. Safe the following text to a .reg file and doubleclick it: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse] "SmoothMouseXCurve"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00 ,a0,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,40,\ 01,00,00,00,00,00,00,80,02,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,05 ,00,00,00,00,00 "SmoothMouseYCurve"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,66 ,a6,02,00,00,00,00,00,cd,4c,\ 05,00,00,00,00,00,a0,99,0a,00,00,00,00,00,38,33,15 ,00,00,00,00,00 2. Reboot your computer |

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Hi,
Has anyone tried setting this: "SmoothMouseXCurve"=hex: it shows as "(zero-length binary value)" in the registry here is the reg file contents: Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse] "ActiveWindowTracking"=dword:00000000 "Beep"="No" "DoubleClickHeight"="16" "DoubleClickSpeed"="500" "DoubleClickWidth"="16" "ExtendedSounds"="No" "MouseHoverHeight"="4" "MouseHoverTime"="400" "MouseHoverWidth"="4" "MouseSensitivity"="8" "MouseThreshold1"="0" "MouseThreshold2"="0" "MouseTrails"="0" "SnapToDefaultButton"="0" "SwapMouseButtons"="0" "MouseSpeed"="0" "SmoothMouseXCurve"=hex: "SmoothMouseYCurve"=hex: My mouse hand's wrist stopped to bother me almost instantly. Changing SmoothMouseXCurve to some other value is just another curve of accel. But setting this to non-value seems to turn accel off. Best of luck |

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Are these tweaks to make the mouse respond faster? I play Combat Arms and always get a delay when I fire. it is a short half second, but it makes all the difference sometimes. Is this my mouse or the game?
If you think this would be a solution, or have any other ideas, I am open to try them. I must note though, I don't mess around much with registry changes, so I will need a step-by-step tutorial to do anything. Thanks much |

Do you really need to tweak your mouse?

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
The sound reacts the same time as the gun fires. I get good reaction while moving the mouse, but I have noticed that when I fire, there is a slight delay. Most noticable while I am doing a lot of action(running, jumping, moving side to side).
Likewise, when I stand still firing seems to react much faster. |

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Does it play better at lower resolution?
Your system is not top notch right now as you probably know. You have checked the usual culprits, drivers etc, right? It might be an issue with monitor lag, but since you say when there is less action there is less delay, it looks like a performance issue than anything else.

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Yes, it is probably a performance issue. I know my computer is outdated. I play at a good resolution and there is no delays with the game when there is a lot of action going on. Just when I shoot. So that is why I thought maybe it could be a mouse issue when I read this thread.
thanks |

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Any chance of using a camera to record this?

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Not sure how I would do that.(camera) I am going to the nexon forums and see if there are any related issues. But I am determining that it may just be a computer performance issue.

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
Just lower the camera so that it captures botht he on screen action and the mouse.
If you are right handed, place the camera on the height of the mouse and on its right side, aiming at both the mouse and the screen. Or you could place the camera top (very helpful if someone else can do this for you) from above your head and behind, like a third person shooter, but the lighting must be good enough to be able to see the mouse buttons when clicked. Or just hold the mouse infront of the screen and click away while having the camera near your head. (yes I do study to become a filmmaker thank you very much :-p )

Re: Mouse acceleration tweak
I could give it a try.
Let me guess. We can use this to see if there is actually a delay, or if my finger reaction is slower than my brain, lol. Would be interesting..... now if this holds true... what steps would we take to resolve the issue? Or are we back to it's my outdated system? It doesn't happen all the time, kind of random. But during the course of a game I would have to day more than a 1/4 of the time I notice it. |

Yes, or if there is a monitor issue than performance issue. How to resolve it? Well, in case it is a slow reaction from your body, not much I am afraid. You can always play combat mission and pretend to be a fps.
