Liveupdate error in NAV 2004

Hello PPl,

I have this problem with Norton Antivirus 2004 - After a recent purchase of Norton SystemWorks 2004 I have become rather disappointed - as I cant update certain parts of the program, see below for details

Uninstall and reinstall Nortons Systemworks and Norton's Antivirus Re-install systemworks only as it has everything except the firewall in it.

Yup I have done that... and still no joy. It's a very odd error - Do you think it could be becuase I have SP1.a?

I'll second that. . .it completely fucked up on my rig. If you have 2003, I would recommend going back.

Hah, mine too! Lemme guess, you are behind a router? The program is set to block communications from "attacking" computers for one hour after the "attack," and I think the program thought my router was on the "attack!" Gads, what a hose-o-rama. To make matters worse, it somehow hosed my network settings so that eve after uninstalling NIS, my internet connection kept dropping, leading me to eventually wipe & reinstall my OS.

What a nightmare!

If you absolutely must have NIS, go back to version 2003. I used it with no problems.

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

If youre behind a router then what is the point of having NIS?

Routers already have hardware firewalls built in with logging capabilities.

Some people like the Application Security. The request to access the internet.

The main reason I used it was for NAV, anti-spam, and a pretty effective ad blocker (not just a pop-up blocker, web pages would appear mostly ad-free).

I also agree with Zero. . .NIS can prevent programs from accessing the internet without your permission. You might be suprised how many MS processes tap into the net. . .

Here is the problem:

NAV 9.9.06B or 9.9.06D
This version of NAV cannot currently be updated to the latest version of the Common Client program. Symantec is investigating this problem. There is currently no solution. This document will be updated when new information becomes available or a solution is found.

In the mean time, do not install the Common Client update. NAV will continue to fully protect your computer without the update. The update does not effect the functionality of the NAV email, IM, or manual scanner or the Auto-Protect feature of the program.

Error info from Symantec
