Default Post Removing the Messenger 4.6 from Windows XP ???

Hi all - just had a quick check to see if this has been posted in the current forum...

Any idea how I remove Windows Messenger 4.6 (properly/safely) now that I have MSN Messenger 5.0124 ?

Cheers,
Stuart.

wait a few weeks for sp1, then remove it from add/remove programs

for now, simply untick "allow msnger to run in background" and "run this when windows start" in the preference..

anyway, is this proggie so disgusting that you must delete it? it's not taking much space

Default Post Removing MSN Messenger completely

Run notepad.

Open \windows\inf\sysoc.inf

change
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
to
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Save and exit.

Go to Add/Remove programs

Go to Windows components section

Down at the bottom of the list you'll now see an option to remove Messenger.

(Service packs and betas will reinstall messenger, just so you know)
