PC freezes when I click on IE

Why does it keep doing this. Everytime I click to get on to the internet, my pc freezes and I have to reboot it. My connection is dsl.HELP

what browser are you using IE, Netscape, mozilla, etc.?

List your system specs and whether or not you have SP2 final installed. You might just want to defragment or actually reformat your hard drive if you haven't done so in a long time.

i saw in the other thread you opened, and it's IE.

actually i need more info from you but dont know what to ask yet,

- try creating a new shortcut on desktop to iexplore.exe, then add -nohome to the target line.
something like this.. "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome
and start the IE, and see...

- also scan check for spyware/adware....

Spyware would be a very good guess.

Download ad-aware and spybot SD, update them both and scan your pc. Reboot and scan again and then try to open IE.

Update you anti virus and do a full scan.... There is a virus that does just that!

Threads merged. The guys above me are right in asking for more information - its nearly impossible to diagnose with just the fact you have DSL. Specifics are needed.
