Default Post Read NTFS from DOS

A new DOS based utility has been released here that will allow you read and copy files to and from NTFS based systems.

For newbies out there NTFS was the first 32-bit, Windows based, file system that allowed you to work beyond the 2 gig driver limit. NTFS = NT File System. NTFS also allows you to encrypt the file system. This was done so that someone couldn't just stick in a boot disk and access the files on you hard drive as you can do with any FAT12, FAT16, and FAT32 file system.

This utility allows you to bypass the encryption and edit the locked NT/Win2000 password sector. This is for recovery purposes only of course

I like ntfsdos better. It costs money, but saves a lot of hassle IMO.

From what I read, that program isn't very complete/good. I'll just use NTFSdos Pro. $299 hehe - free for me of course!

little OT: use a Linux LiveCD ( like Knoppix( http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/ ) if you need to make a recovery backup from an NTFS drive (some distributions don't have ntfs support)
if you really need Dos use ntfsdos
