Suitable for:
ATI R420, X800 The VGA Silencer has come a long way since it's introduction model that was based around the ATI R9xx chipset. Cards like the 9500/9700 quickly started popping up sporting this new cooling system. HIS was the first major company to start including these coolers on their high end cards and they continue to do so today. Thanks to Scythe USA we are able to bring you this preview. The VGA Silencer draws cool air from the inside of your computer enclosure and exhausts the warm air out the rear of your case using their DHES - Direct Heat Exhaust system. This feature will not only keep your VPU cooler but it will also lower overall case temperatures. It features a long life ceramic bearing fan that runs at 1100 RPM with 5V or 2200 RPM with 12V of power fed to it. It contains an exhaust channel with a 35 fin aluminum radiator to dissipate heat as well as a 2.5mm thick copper heatsink plate and a 1.3mm backing plate to offer additional cooling for the VGA memory chips. THe VGA Silencer has proven itself to be one of the first choices among the overclocking community. It provides excellent cooling with very respectable noise levels. Revision 2 of the cooler was released to give ATI 9600 users the option to add this product to their VGA solution and Revision 3 looked after the 9800 product line along with the All in Wonder series of ATI cards.
Below you can see images of the aluminum backing plate that goes on the back side of you video card to increase the ability to cool the cards memory chips as well as a view of the actual heatsink that cools the GPU and the copper baseplate that resides between the heatsink and the top side of your video card. I must say that this is an impressive looking cooling solution for the ATI X800 lineup. I had hoped to have an x800 Pro to test this new cooler with but unfortunately the card is on back order. I will however complete the review and add that information here at a later date. *NOTE: In Canada these coolers can be
purchased from ADPMods
and in the USA Jab-Tech
Computers have stock ready to go..
