Icuti

Many of you won't have heard of Icuti but they were keen to take time to chat with us about their forthcoming VR920 product which uses a stereoscopic display using the Nvidia driver and compatible software. Resolution is 800x600 VGA. They are wired back to a control box with audio, USB, VGA support. Final version will have a microphone and a gryo. Retail price will be approximately in the $400 region.

Tagan

Tagan don't really need a foreword from us, they are one of the most respected power supply makers on the planet. Pictured above is a 900w unit designed for Quad SLI with changeable 6-8 pin connectors. Also supplied with an earthing strap to reduce damage from shorts or static shocks.

Cool It

Dell OEM XPS H2C systems have water cooling developed by CoolIt based on MTEC technology. A seperate retail version of the cooling solution called "The Eliminator" is available. This is basically a smaller version of the Freezone that we reviewed a while ago.

This is a custom Coolit mod on an Xbox 360 using an Mtec cooling system. Unfortunately the unit wasn't in operation with diodes, but we were told that temperatures throughout this console dropped significantly.

Do you suffer from hot weather in the summer? Well fret not because Coolit are selling this USB powered peltier based beverage cooler. No more lukewarm drinks !

Novint

One of the most eyecatching products on display this year at CES is the "Falcon", a new 3d style control system, for those of you looking at the pictures and wondering what on earth the unit is, it is basically a cross between a mouse and a force feedback joystick.

The controller uses strong force feedback to give a real sense oof immersion in your favourite games. We had a demonstration - a moving sphere which you control via the Falcon unit. Throughout the demo they changed the environment surrounding the sphere, from the initial bumpy ground surface to pushing the sphere into a liquid like material. The feedback is amazing and you could feel every bump and indulation on the environments. Controlling the sphere through the liquid surface was really like pushing an object into glue. The demo ended with an icy environment and you could feel the controls "slipping" as you would expect with real ice.

We then fired up Half Life 2 and you could feel the environment around you, firing a gun resulted in a recoil motion, and when a barrel would explode near, you could feel the impact on your body. Interestingly we were informed that the 3d controller was a concept to help dentists and surgeons train before operating on a real person, but the developers after research felt that this unit would be viable within a gaming environment. The Falcon will go on sale around the $189 mark, and is definitely a product to keep your eye out for.

Well we hope you enjoyed our coverage of the more interesting products at CES this year, we have had a good time over here and between meetings, interviews and product demonstrations we have managed to attend many a casino and late night party. Viva Las Vegas !
