F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R contained some of the most demanding graphics available. The same is still true for Extraction Point, the expansion pack to the horror FPS. The graphics in the game are pretty much the same as before. For our testing soft shadows are off.

Once again the results are far away from what we expected based on previous experiences with F.E.A.R. in Vista. While the X1950XTX we tested last time performed a lot better in Windows XP, it seems that Vista is the way to go if you own an nVidia card. We did come across some Vista stability issues however – just like with ATI hardware the game was prone to crashing when returning to the desktop, and it actually forced us to reboot the system once. While this is not the ideal situation, it is most likely just a temporary setback which will be resolved in updated driver versions.
