There's a problem
Well, it's quite easy. Just select Kx asio from the options menu in RT player

I almost forgot the problem. So, I Couldn't route ASIO so that natural raw sound of my guitar couldn't be heard. I guess it's because Kx Asio does not use the AC97 line-in RECORD stip from the recording sources panel, rather it uses AC97 strip from the in-out panel of the mixer, and that's a huge problem, since I do not want to hear the raw line-in signal, just the processed one. If anybody has any idea how to solve this problem, please post a reply!!!

cubase sx would do the same and even with the dx plugins too (yet rtplayers cpu utilization is much better). i cannot get the rtplayer to work here either.

SpinAudio ASIO FX Processor is the same as RT Player. I got RT Player to work with SB Live though. All you really have to do is make sure that in your kx DSP screen you have prolog 1 and 2 connected to asio 1 and 2, which are epilog 16 and 17, this is what I missed at first, its all in the help file under asio recording.
Follow these steps(the numbered steps were copied form the thread that I learned from) Under the AC97 page in the dropdown, mute everything, but turn lie in sliders up, and make sure that line in is selected in drop down list. On Ins 'n' Outs page, the bottom row is your 'Ins", make sure that AC97 is unmuted and the slider is turned up. Thats it! As long as those simple steps in the mixer are done correctly(if you don't mut line in on AC97 page, it won't work!) the only other thing that you have to worry about is the kx DSP page that I already mentioned. 0) Recheck that you have KX ASIO and not ASIO MULTIMEDIA drivers loaded in Cubase 1) See in KX mixer IN AND OUT'S page if the AC97 faders are all the way up and if they are enabled (you may mute and turn down all other inputs) 2) Check in KX mixer AC97 page if you have LINE IN selected in the drop down box. Mute all the inputs in this page and turn all volumes down. 3) Check in the back of your sblive if you connected the cable to LINE IN and NOT to the MIC IN. 4) Check in KX DSP windows if AC97 L and R outs (prolog) are connect to ASIO 0 and 1 (epilog). Good Luck! |

1 warning here!
If you have a sb0060 live (5.1 player) then asio channels 1 and 2 do not work! (input) best bet is to go for channels 14 and 15 then |

Ahh, I see another problem. Even if you have everything correctly configured correctly with kx, when you select the asio driver in RT, you have to set the sample rate to 48 before you can select kx asio

Ya, I ran into that too, good for mentioning it... (I first selected the cubase asio drivers to switch to 48)

If all you are using RT for is for monitoring your performance and not for live performance(which is what RT was meant to be used for) try out a free beta of Simple VST Host. Fxpansion makes it and they contribute alot to the scene. They need help testing this to make it better than RT.Best of all, it's free.

no problem, tell me what you think of Fxpansion Simple VST Host. Download it here
I have been able to do way more with it than RT Player, because it has 4 seperate channels that can contain 4 effects each. You can turn any row(or individual effect in the row too) on or off. |
