Please, Please Help Me!!!!!

I have just bought Cubase SL (after a long time away from songwriting) but I am unsure how to set up my computer. At the moment I have a huge latency problem (I think) - My soundcard is a relatively old SounblasterLive Value (remember them???). Also, when I am using the VST instruments and hold down a note on my master keyboard, it takes a second or two before a note sounds. I really don't know much about latency... so bear with me!!!

I have no special drivers and wonder whether I need to use this KX audio driver.

I am currently using an Athlon 1600+, 80 gig hard disk and Windows XP.
My master keyboard is a Novation SuperNova II.
If you need any further info about my set up... just ask.
I really don't know what to do...
Thank you for even taking the time to read this... I am eternally grateful!!!

If you use KX you'll get a latency as low as 2.66. My system is similar to yours and I can record with 10ms latency in Cubase using lots of channels. Use KX drivers and set up KX ASIO in Cubase and you'll see what I'm talking about!
