Sonar problems with ASIO + 2x Sb live card

Hello everyone , first time poster but all time user of the fine and dandy kx drivers for my sb live card.

Here is my current system configuration (before i forget about them later when i post my problems)

Intel P4 HT 3.40Ghz
2x 1gb + 1x 512 mb corsair ram
1x sblive 5.1 digital (model SB0222)
1x sblive 5.1 (model SB0060)
using latest drivers of kx on them
win XP sp2
have both sonar 6 and cubase sx3 in my comp

no for my problem
in sonar when i use ASIO everything is bleaching fast and smooth BUT i in options--->audio----->drivers i can only select one of the cards as (the SB0060 one)

is there any possible way for me to get both cards working correctly in Sonar using ASIO. Since when i use the WDM/ks one i can get both to work including my onboard Realtek HD too

please be gentle with me if i have started a new thread instead of following an existent one, i searched the forum but i suck when it comes to search querries.

thanx for all, and Cheers to the KX team for making my Sb live cards alive again i love those two cards of mine to death but now when i first used the KX drivers i was soo friggin' happy i started to hop all over my room and finally i couldn't contain myself and had to run (not butt naked btw) outside and giggle like a girl (i did thisat night so i can't be spoted by the neighbors ). I;m serious the drivers really drove me skyhigh, but the ASIO thing is my only prob so far i LOVE the ~5ms latency with ASIO, and beleive me you need all the raw power you can get when you're drumming on drumpads it sucks to have hickups when you're making those 16th stab fills. Thanx again for all

Sonar (version up to 6) doesnt support multiple ASIO devices.
I have doubts V7 does either, but I suppose I could be wrong.

I have read Cubase SX4 was able to... but..

According to this, multiple devices are not part of the ASIO protcol.
Using Multiple Audio Interfaces Together

.. mentions using ASIO4ALL to accomplish this. But warnings of sync problems should be considered (, as well as additional latency from using WDM drivers (that ASIO4ALL will use) - but some people report using ASIO4ALL with success (what ever that means?) - I wasn't so pleased with performance on my non-optimized, aging PC)

Oh thank you so much for your reply maddogg6, i didn't know about the limitations of the ASIO protocol.

is there away to have (near) same latency without ASIO?, i have been working on another machine that has an EMU 1212 card so ASIO works great on it, but now that i know i can't drive my 2 lives in ASIO mode i'm wondering which is a better alternative.

**EDIT**
hey i just finished reading the link you gave me it's very interresting, forgive me if i speak OT since i don't know how the kx architecture works. but i read in the link that it is possible to streamline two identical cards and make them perform as one single card, thus multiplying their input ports and their output ports.

so my question is, um... is this doable with the kx drivers? i mean in the near version release or next patch builds?

I mentioned ASIO4ALL...

or use the non ASIO enabled sound card as a sort of 'sub mixer' or outboard A/D converter.
No timing issues this way... Simply run (as many as you can/need) SPDIF OUT from 'sub-mixer' card to the ASIO enabled card SPDIF IN - and gain extra analog input(s) and kX synth polyphony. Record them like any other input on the ASIO enabled card.

Unless you *need* 32 discreet ASIO channels??? I can't imagine why tho...

btw... kX *can* be installed on 2 kX compatible cards at the same time - no problem. So, its not a *kX* ASIO limitation per se. Its more about the ASIO host from what I can tell - *if* cubase SX 4 can handle multiple ASIO cards at once... but I have not seen it personally.

thanks for the reply i have kx installed for both cards btw i can't live without he kx drivers since the sb original once plain suck, i think i will try to get a copy of sx4 just to try if it will work, then if the ASIO could be setup nicely i will probably buy the application since i am better working in cubase than sonar. thank again
