KX driver with Sonar 7 and Guitar Rig 2
Hello again, I'm having trouble feeding Guitar Rig 2's output signal into the input of a Sonar Track, I've tried to use Guitar Rig as a VST (softsynth) inside of sonar but I cannot get an input signal,
Why? I am not sure, I've never been able to make it work. maybe I need the Rig Kontrol hardware? I am using a creative Audigy 2 zs platinum pro (break out box) So I am now trying to run guitar rig standalone, and feed the signal into sonar. The problem I'm running into is that they share the ASIO driver system. I have played around with limiting the ASIO input/output pairs that Sonar is allowed to use, and select the option for sonar to "share Drivers w/other apps". But still, I can have GRig2 open and working fine, then I open Sonar and it blocks the inputs and outs of Grig2, they go back to 44100khz setting, and arn't selectable in the input/output page. I got this to work once with ASIO4All + The original creative drivers, but then I received an error where whenever I armed a track to record in sonar, there was suddenly no sound coming through my speakers. When it was working, I saw all the ASIO options kx driver gives you in sonar's input/output page, but it was more descriptive than kx (line in 1, spdif in) I have limited knowlage of the dsp system but can work a bit with it, any tips are welcome, thanks a lot. And if anyone can let me know about using ASIO4All correctly in sonar with guitar rig I wouild appreciate that as well. Last edited by alexaepathy; Jun 26, 2008 at 07:25 AM. |

I was able to install the original creative drivers and asio4all and was able to make it work.
In guitar rig I send the output to one of the physical outputs, in my case Left and Right Center (output 1 and 2 respectively). Then in Sonar I choose L and R Center as the input, and it works fine. |

Hmm not sure how I missed this thread....
Quote:
A) send the input to ASIO input of epilog only - disconnect prolog from XRouting - (*1) B) Set sonars track input to *that* ASIO input that is connected in kX DSP C) Enable track input echo on that track (edit: Oh, you may need to arm the track to record also /edit) *1 - this is so you hear only the effected sound from Guitar Rig - other wise - by default - kX DSP is set up to 'hardware monitor' physical inputs. Thus why you dont normally need to use input echo on tracks in sonar. It can work - albiet with 2x latency (is inherent from using input echo) - imho - makes it very tedious to use - but if you have an optimized PC with like 2.5 ms latency - then your not gonna notice the latency too much.
