cannot record audio in cubasis
Hi all,
sorry but i haven't found a solution by searching the forum. I'm using version 3541 with a SB0102 5.1 (Creative SBLive Digital) and Cubasis VST 5.0 on a Windows XP Home Edition SP2 System. Nearly everything works fine! Low latency, no crackles using VST Instruments like Stage Piano or the ProteusVX. But... I cannot record audio in Cubasis. I've read so much tutorials for setting up the DSP (unfortunately for Cubase, not Cubasis). I've tried setting up the DSP with ProFX too... Using ASIO DirectX Full Duplex Driver instead gives me full record features in an audio track of Cubasis (LineIn, Midi/SoundFonts, VST Instruments), but bad latency... But that doesn't work with the kx driver. Recording audio and all the output of Cubasis only works with an external audio edting software (i use WaveLab Lite and Audacity) but not in a Cubasis-internal audio track. I'm stuck. So can anybody help? Regards Michael |

set your samplerate in cubasis to 48khz - you should be able to record that way (kX asio only works @ 48khz)

As far as the kX DSP goes.... you connect physical inputs from ProFx:SRC or ProFx:ADC (you have the most up to date profX - right?) or Prolog - to ProFx:ASIO (Or ASIO ins of Epilog) - say you connect ADC's out to ASIO 0/1 - you need to set your audio tracks INPUT to use kX ASIO 0/1.
You may need to set up some configurations to enable all ASIO channels (0-15) to be able to select them in an audio track.. If you use Prolog - make sure kX Mixer ins and Outs page has that input Level set (and not muted) - and if using AC97 input with Prolog - set the 'AC97 Source' drop down in the kX Mixer AC97 page to what input you want to use - I presume 'Line In'. With Default DSP config.... Set kX Mixer AC97 page 'AC97 Source' to Line In... On the kX Mixer Ins & Outs Page - adjust AC97 level In Cubasis - set audio track input to use kX ASIO 2/3 You will see in the kX DSP by default - that ASIO 2/3 is fed by prologs top 2 pins - which is the AC97 output of Prolog. Hope that helps... Last edited by Maddogg6; Sep 16, 2008 at 09:11 PM. |

thanks a lot for your help. Meanwhile i've found something about "The ASIO mapping issue" ( kX and Cubase SX ).
My card has got this issue. That's really weird. Unfortunately the workaround described is for Cubase and not for Cubasis (which ist restricted in some features). The only way i've found to record LineIn in an audio track of Cubasis is to connect AC97 - LineIn to ASIO 14/15 which then in Cubasis is In7 L/R !!??. To record SoundFont and VST-Instruments in an audio track i have to connect RecL and RecR of xrouting to ASIO 14/15 which then in Cubasis is In1 L/R !!?? (weird as i said...) So now i'm only able to record LineIn in an Cubasis audio track, but that's okay...the mixing down works with an external audio editor, which records all played tracks of Cubasis. http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/2641/mydspjm3.jpg Regards Michael |

AFAIK, all Live! 5.1 cards have the ASIO mapping issue.
Try using epilog instead of kxlt/ASIO, as epilog will work better with some programs, while ProFX:ASIO will work better with others (epilog and ProFX:ASIO use a different mapping scheme). (With epilog) Start with ASIO 4/5, since 1/2 is not available (thus 4/5 is first channels that you could use for stereo input) and work you way up from there. |
