both :-)

you have both briljant vst/vsti's, and briljant dx plugins... but also very bad...

I rather prefer DirectX Instruments (DXI) than VSTi because I get lower latency in Cakewalk Sonar using DXi.
With VSTi in i.e. Cubase SX, there's not the same feeling as with DXi.

When using drum instruments like NI Battery, which I use alot, it's very important to have as low latency as posible. And with Cakewalk Sonar, I've almost no delay with my master keyboard.

System Specs

Ive got two cents on this issue....

Vsti plugins dont register for the most part, which allows you to move them within the vstplugins directory, in a hierarchical structure for organization and visual orientation

for instance, you can group all your "reverb" plugins in a reverb folder, and the plugins will still work.

Dx plugins, on the other hand, are not "sortable" in the dxlistings of any program, they just list alphabetically.

I seem to remember debates about vsti plugins having a bit less overhead than dx plugins, but thats something ive not tested personally.

I load only the dx plugins that dont have corresponding Vst counterparts, because I tend to not use a lot of fx within programs that only use only dx plugins. And the solution for that would be to use a dx to vst wrapper.

So im saying I tend to focus more on using VST plugins, and use the dx ones when they dont have a vst version.

With Vst you get full automation in Vst hosts (Cubase, Nuendo) while with DX you get no automation.

VSTI

Hi,

yeah like dawkorn said!
cause i had problems to load diffrent dxis in fruity loops because of the "structure" of a dxi
but there are tools to solve that easily!

i think dxi are mostly installations with registry entries
but vstis are mostly only one dll which is copied in the vst directory

i think the quality is the same! (of course of the same plugin)

and also said right: vstis are "more automatable"

If anyone had problems to load a dxi, tell me maybe i can help!
