ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
Hello all i am new to the KX Project.
The probem i am having is a AISO Routing probem. Or at least i think it is. So here is what i am trying to do. I have a progam called DeckaDance Its a MP3 DJ mixing program, that suports the use of TimeCode Vinyl or CD to contral the mp3s. I am trying to use Timecoded CD's with the software, so i dont need a preamp. I have both SB Live + Live Drive and i have SB Audigy2Zs + Live Drive. There for i have more then enugh ins and outs with the live drives. The software works as it should. But i can not mute the line-in where the time code cd comes in with out losing its signal. What i need to happen is allow the signal to come in but mute the sound. As i have a SB X-Fi + Live Drive in my main system and all works as it should. Is this even posable with one of theys cards? Using the Kx Drivers? And if so could some one point me in the right driection. Thanks for your time. Mark Nickolas. |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
No, that is not possible. The signal and the audio are one and the same as far as kX is concerned. Such things would need to be done within your mixing software (i.e. do not send the audio to the master output or whatever (you should probably review the software instructions)).
BTW: The above assumes that your DSP config is not sending the audio directly to the speakers (if you are using the default DSP config, disconnect the connections between prolog and xrouting (disconnect at xrouting pins)). Last edited by Russ; Jan 16, 2010 at 12:11 AM. Reason: more info - clarify |

Hi Evey one,
First off let me say a BIG thank you Russ for a quick replay as well as coment to remove the lines from thoes pins, as it fixes the probem with the sound comming thew the card. On to my next queston. Deckadance software has a bilt in oscilloscope so u can see the sign wave comming in to the program. Is there some sort of FX on the line-in port of the default Kx Drivers? The reason i ask is Deckadance see a square sign rater then a round one witch the aux line-in shows, and is expected. Thanks for all the help and time. DJ Mark Nickolas |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
No, there are no effects on the path between Line In and ASIO In in the default DSP config. Also, Line In and Aux In are both AC97 inputs (thus follow the same path in the DSP) and thus any effects on Line In would also be applied to Aux In.
Are you sure that you used the same exact settings for both when testing? e.g. That the AC97 slider on the Ins and Outs page was at the same level both times, and the Analog Recording Gain slider (on the AC97 page) was at the same level both times? Also that any volume control on your external CD player was the same for both, etc? Have you tried a different cable? |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
Hey Russ. thanks for the quick reply, agin.
![]() I think i am starting to get the idea of how it all works in the "4x DPS" Pannel, There like chips, i just had to start thinking with my electronis brackround. So todays update is once i was gitting how it worked, then what do i do.. i messed up the DSP pannel (of corse i did not have a saved ver of the defalt pannel) and had to unstall and reinstall the drivers set... the square sign went away.. *SRUGH I DONT KNOW* but what ever.. but now i some what have a grasp of the panel... how am i going to send the out put of ASIO-00 to anlog front right. ? Once agin thanks for the speedy replys. it took quite some time to even find a pice of dj software that suports time code that would work even with SB cards. I hope this info ends up helping more then just my self out. :P Thanks DJ Mark Nickolas.com Last edited by DJ_Mark; Jan 17, 2010 at 10:24 PM. |

ASIO (output) channel numbering matches FxBus numbering. So if you want to send ASIO 0 to Front right, connect FxBus 0 to Analog Front Right on epilog (2nd pin). (See pin tooltips for pin description). |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
OK, but you have left/right swapped from what is typical.
Make sure kX's swap front and rear option is not enabled (on 'Main' page of kxmixer). Clear the DSP (right click and choose clear). Load FxBusX, Prolog and epilog. Connect 1st Pin of FxBusX (ASIO 0) to 2nd pin of epilog (Analog Front Right). Connect 2nd Pin of FxBusX (ASIO 1) to 1st pin of epilog (Analog Front Left). Connect 3rd Pin of FxBusX (ASIO 2) to 10th pin of epilog (Analog Rear Right). Connect 4th Pin of FxBusX (ASIO 3) to 9th pin of epilog (Analog Rear Left). Connect 1st pin of prolog (AC97 In Left) to 18th pin of epilog (ASIO 1). Connect 2nd pin of prolog (AC97 In Right) to 17th pin of epilog (ASIO 0). Connect 13th pin of prolog (Aux2 In Left) to 20th pin of epilog (ASIO 3). Connect 14th pin of prolog (Aux2 In Right) to 19th pin of epilog (ASIO 2). Enable both inputs (AC97 In and Aux2 In) on Ins and Outs page of kxmixer, and set volume to 0 dB. Select Line In as the AC97 source on AC97 page of kxmixer. |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
OMG This is so close i can taste it.
Thanks for that Russ. Yes i messed up the numbers there on you on that one.. I am what theay call Dyslectic. But it all makes sences just change the pins around .. So just about evey thing works as it should BUT!! on my AC97 (Line-In) i am gitting sound source from the cd deck.(TimeCode Noise) out my Anlog-Front's with the sorce comming from the APP. The TimeCode that comes in on AUX-2 VIA front pannel Live drive and exits VIA Anlog-Rears Is PEFECT! Is there a way to fix this? Or am i S.O.L on this one. And if i am SOL is the Mic2/line-in2 Stereo? or only Mono? THanks so much for all the help on this one. Thanks Mark |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
Make sure that the 'Line In' slider at the bottom of the 'AC97' page of kxmixer is muted (level reads "inF").
As for Line2, the docs say that it is a stereo jack: Quote:

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
I am glad it is working for you. The DSP is not so difficult once you get the hang of it.
BTW: There is an alternate config for (AC97) Line In that may give you better quality. Ins and Outs page: Mute the 'AC97 In' slider. Unmute the 'AC97 In 2' slider and set level to 0 dB. AC97 page: Enable "AC97 <-> I2S Routing mode". Unmute the "Line In" slider and set level to 0 dB. In the DSP, use pins 11 and 12 (AC97 In 2) of prolog instead of the pins 1 and 2. You should also read about ProFX, as for stuff like this, it can make things much easier (everything is done in DSP, so you do not have to do anything in kx mixer). And, although it is a little outdated (some things have changed in kX and ProFX since it was written), the following guide is very useful: A newbie guide on kX's (DSP) concept or "How to setup your DSP". |

Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
Hey all,
Thanks for that ALT config for that. I think it should be noted that the above will only work with the 10k2 and NOT the 10k1 chipsets. As i have tryed it on the SB Live and could not enable the I2S routing mode, but it did seem to inprove my playback on the deck conected to the Line-In Input. It all so should be noted that i did not try the orginal mode on the Audigy 2zs. Thanks agin for all the help on this. Keep up the good work eveyone. Re: ASIO Audio Routing Prolbem Noob Help
Right, it is only supported by some models (sorry, I meant to say "with your A2ZS"
).
