The best driver version for ASIO ?

Hi,

Since a few months I use Kontakt sampler with ASIO driver. I set latency
to 5ms. It works fine but sometimes I have some clicks and pops and I have
to restart the PC to fix it.
So far I use the 3534 driver version (yes, an old one but it rocks ) so I'd like
to know which KXdriver version will gives the best ASIO performances for my system:
SB Live 5.1, Athlon 3200+, 2Go RAM, Windows XP

Thanks

Well, I guess that all depends on how "heavy" ur synths and FX are. I mean, it's not ONLY ASIO but also CPU that counts. As for me, my old rig (Athlon 2000XP/1024MB RAM/SB Live 5.1) was capable of 192 samples (4 ms for 48kHz) using Guitar Rig 2 under 3539 in winXP_x86. I used to play mah guitar quite comfortably.

I dont think ASIO is seriously changed in last versions though. At least for k1. My advice will be: if it works, dont touch it.

Advice of wisdom

I use Sonar 3 with reverb/delay equalizer and compressor FX but they don't use much CPU ressources (5/6%).
The ASIO driver is only used with Kontakt sampler (via Midiyoke driver) wich allow to reduce latency (5ms), but there's sometimes some crackles and pops.
So I was thinking that it may could have some improves since the 3534 driver version.

Any idea ?

Re: The best driver version for ASIO ?

I don't think there are any ASIO improvements over what you already have, I've read that 3534 still has the best ASIO performance. If you had a newer OS and/or a newer card then you would have to upgrade as this is where improvements were made. (vista/win7 support, more than 2 gig of ram, Audigy support, etc.)

You can probably get rid of those clicks by increasing the buffers a touch without hurting latency very much.

For me 3534 is working without any hearable latency (sometimes there are clicks).
