nakamichi has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Running a 32-bit DAW with ASIO on Windows 7 64-bit - is this possible with kX?

Does kX have ASIO support in 32-bit apps under a 64-bit OS like every other 64-bit ASIO driver out there?

I tried everything, but all 32-bit apps (DAWs/sequencers and various audio players) I've tested so far don't even detect that a kX ASIO driver is installed and available.

That's a really major drawback, since 90% of the software I use is 32-bit only and there are no other alternatives

VSTi (99% of them are 32-bit) run much slower/buggier or don't run at all when bridged in a 64-bit DAW like REAPER. There's no 64-bit alternative to FL Studio. The best audio players (Foobar2000 and XMPlay) are still 32-bit only.

ASIO4ALL is not an option either. It may work great with onboard Realtek crap, but it's useless with kX-compatible cards (extremely high latency).

And using a 32-bit OS is not an option with a quad-core CPU and 4GB (or more) of RAM.

For example,on a system with 8GB of RAM and an onboard IGP eating up 512MB of RAM, you only have about 2.75 GB total RAM available for everything. More than 5 GB goes to waste.

No, 32bit apps won't work with 64bit KX.....

I have the same problem even in a clean install of W7 x 86,the ASIO driver is not recognized by any app,and what is worst,it doesn´t show by clicking in the "ASIO control panel" in the settings menu;until further stages of developement of Kx, I´m afraid that the only solution is reverting to XP x 86,and this is what I´ve done, with the latest version of Kx (3550),working fine;for other tasks other than music,I use another partition with a W7 x 64 to take advantage of my AMD x2 processor.

If I remember correctly you have to install KX using advanced admin status to get it to work. Check the last post in this thread by Russ

Windows 7 64bit + SB Live Platinum 5.1 + KX drivers

Well,no luck with the admin privileges;at least I have playback capabilities and they work fine;anyway thanks for the link...I guess I´m stuck with XP pro for music, but I´m happy as long as I can make cool music with it...by the way, cool psychodelic blues that you perform with your band Tyrsosnswood...

From what I've read you should be able to get ASIO working if everything is 32bit under Win7, you may have to open the ASIO control panel from inside the DAW... but Yeah I agree XP pro is working so why mess with success.

Thanks for the complement, it's not a band just me.... gotta get back to that someday.

I saw this in another thread:

IMPORTANT: This must be done from an elevated command prompt. <--- (click to know how)

I tested it with Guitar Rig 4 Standalone and VST with Ableton Live 8.1
Thats all! Enjoy your ASIO
Is this a reliable method to make ASIO work with 32bit hosts or should I wait for KX to support this?

It is a reliable method for getting 32bit hosts working in a 32bit OS...... Not in a 64bit OS

you need 64bit hosts in a 64bit OS

There's no work around for this.
