kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
I have EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Free, which uses the Play player (it's installed both as a VSTi and as a standalone instrument).
The standalone 64 bit instrument doesn't work with kX at all. When I go into audio settings, there is no kX to choose under ASIO drivers. And it doesn't produce any sound even if I choose the DirectSound output. I'm assuming it might be because it's 64 bit, because 32 bit hosts work fine with ASIO (and I can use this VSTi inside them). Or perhaps I forgot to set something? System is Windows 7 64, updated, SB0060. I'm also using outputs 2/3. |

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
On that card, same as mine, the 2/3 output is the hardware synth as default. Try using 4/5.
Also, there are 2 missing Asio inputs and they're a little bit mixed up on these cards with kX. |

It is possible that the 64 bit kxasio.dll did not register correctly, in which case you will have to manually register it (from an elevated command prompt). What version of kX are you using? 2/3 hasn't been used for the synth's since something like 3544a (unless there is something different with x64 version)... |

(for anybody stumbling upon this thread, you have to go into command prompt and type: regsvr32 "c:\program files\kx project\kxasio.dll") EDIT: But I'm still not able to open the ASIO control panel from the kX context menu. So, if you have a solution for this, let me know. It's not a big deal, tho, since I can open this from a host. Last edited by erim; Apr 23, 2011 at 12:44 PM. |

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
Although I hardly ever use the synth, I had to check myself. I tried with 3550 and the synth still comes out of 2/3, on my card anyways, using VanBasco player. Maybe it is specific to the card model or the OS. I'm using XP Pro 32 bit. Where is the synth output on your set-up?

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
The kX Synth's (currently) use 12/13 by default (see kX Router) with both of my cards (SB0228/SB0090 - XP Pro 32 bit). Are you sure you are not using the MS softsynth or something similar?

Nope, hardware synth with sound fonts. I guess it's another kX mystery.

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
Hmm... Just out of curiosity, is it possible that you (at some point since installing 3550), loaded an old config (or maybe something from the kX Preset Exchange?) that might have changed kX Router settings? In any case, it is not a big deal, just trying to avoid confusing any kX newbies

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
As you say, not a big deal for me either, but I did further testing just to satisfy my curiosity. I reset the global and device settings, re-initialized the DSP and loaded a sound font. Chose kX synth as the default device in VanBasco and opened a midi file. I get sound from FX Bus 2/3 only. Nothing from 12/13 using peak plug-in to check. Then I cleared the DSP loaded one src and a peak and cycled through every output again, same result. Using Asio though, i was able to use all outputs 0/1 through 14/15 but still had the synth coming out of 2/3. It don't matter anyways, it works when I need it.

Re: kX ASIO not available (in 64 bit host)
Even though my install is a recent clean install (both Windows and kX), I did similar (just to double check): I reassigned (in kX Router) kX synth routing (send A/B) for both synth's (so I could be sure that a reset settings was actually doing something in kX Router), with both cards, and then reset global settings and device settings (for both cards), and it was reset to 12/13 in all cases.
So (as I cannot find anything wrong with your testing, or mine), it does seem that kX is using different routing in some cases... strange... |
