kX ASIO cannot record at 44.1 (due to hardware limitation)...
But you still can do such recordings if you switch cubase from kX ASIO to MME or DS devices (this interface you used when record with Creative drivers)...

well, for the rest answers try to search this forum a bit - there're really many things discussed here around that 44 vs. 48 kX ASIO stuff...

You are always better off recording at 48 kHz with the Creative cards, because if you are recording at 44.1 kHz, you are using the cards sample rate converters to convert the sample rate on the fly (it is locked at 48 kHz, so it always goes in at 48 kHz). This is why you cannot record at low latencies with other than 48 kHz sample rates. The sample rate converters in these cards are, quite honestly, crap. You will get a better quality sample rate conversion if you convert after the fact in software such as Wavelab. You should be able to get the "lite" version of Wavelab somewhere free, I think, if you didn't get it with your card. I got Wavelab lite with my AUdigy Platinum.

Hope that clarifies.

As i remember cubase sx can convert the sample rate itself, i think in the project manager or audio pool somewhere. Can't give a more accurate answer since i don't have it installed right now.
