KX and Cubase

I'm having trouble with KX, SoundBlaster Live! Player 5.1 (SB0060 5.1 [c400]) and Cubase SX. Here's what I've done so far:

I have installed the latest KX drivers (5.10.0.3535).

I've turned on AC97 in the Ins/Outs panel.

I've selected LineIn in the AC97 panel.

I can now hear my guitar (which is plugged into the LineIn of my soundcard via a mixer) There is no noticeable latency.

In Cubase I have done the following:

Selected the KX ASIO driver from Devices | Device Setup | VST Multitrack and set the latency to 5.33.

Have enabled the VST Inputs for kx In 04 and kx In 05 (I have currently left the KX DSP at the default settings and from what I understand these are the inputs that the AC97 Outs are connected to).

I can still hear my uneffected guitar with no noticeable latency but this is obviously not coming from Cubase (because the AC97 Outs are still connected to xrouting in the DSP, I can disconnect them and don't get any output at all).

Basically, Cubase isn't receiving AC97 output, but with the DSP at default surely it should be receiving it on kx In 04 and kx In 05?

It all works OK with the Creative Soundblaster drivers, just with terrible latency.

Cheers,

Dave

Well I solved the problem. I carried on using the latest version of the drivers, but completely cleared the DSP and rebuilt it as per this famous article. From what I understand, this shouldn't have made any difference but it all works fine now, suggesting to me that perhaps there is a bug in one of the modules (is that the correct nomenclature) used in the default DSP of the newer drivers (ie. xrouting as opposed to routing).

Hope this helps anyone experiencing the same problem.

Hi, I've a similar problem.

I have installed the latest KX drivers (5.10.0.3535).

I've turned off AC97 in Ins/Outs panel

I've turned on AC97 in Record panel

I've selected microphone (I've plugged-in my guitar here) in the AC97 panel.

Now if I use the default asio drive I list the correct sound (all plug-in is ok) but the latency is very high.

I've changed the driver asio on kx (Selected the KX ASIO driver from Devices | Device Setup | VST Multitrack)

I don't know why, now I didn't list any sound from cubase?

Anyone can help me?

Sorry for bad english

bye

Did you set 48kHz?

I'm not advanced user but I had some similar problems and solved in the following way (this sweet drivers need a bit of experiments at the beginning to show its power):
-uninstalled Cubase
-uninstalled kX
-cleared registry with few programs and all traces of the above software
-installed kX
-installed Cubase
-after set both programs everything started as I've expected.

The crucial thing, as I see it (and it's taken me 2 months to figure this out) is that you MUST be using the kX ASIO driver and NOT the DirectX or WinMM ASIO driver. If you use those, your latency will be totally unacceptable. You will also be limited to 2 inputs from each card. And any time you change anything, you'll have to do that stupid sync test...

@Asyd: For Cubase Sx, go to Devices>Vst Connections and set the proper Vst Ins and Outs according to kx Dsp. You do want your project to be 48khz, which you said you did. Now, you said "I've turned off AC97 in Ins/Outs panel"....You don't want to do this, you want to setup the Dsp so that you can turn off AC97. So Insert any effect you want in between the analog in(prolog) and xrouting. Doble click the effect to mute the effect(not bypass) so that no audio should actually go to the xrouting...See? Now make sure that AC97 is ON in the "Ins and Outs" page on kx mixer. If you have any more problems, you can email me.
