Can't make ASIO work in Sonar 3 :(
Hi everybody!
I try to make ASIO drivers work in Sonar 3 and can't make them work at all. ![]() Sonar successfully see all my ASIO inputs and outputs, hardware acceleration is full everywhere (tested with dxdiag), but I can't hear no sound of anything played by Sonar. At all. Not with default DSP settings, nor with FXBus0 connected directly to Eplog's out0 and FXBus1 connected to out1. WDM drivers successfully produces sound. Winamp output is also can be heard. But when I switch Sonar to ASIO mode, I can't hear what Sonar plays but still cah hear Winamp output. I tried to use kX ASIO kX Out 00, my soundcard has been detected as CT4832 (SBLive). ASIO Router sets maximum volume 0 for ASIO 0 and 1 for ASIO 1. And no sound... (Where I was wrong? What shall I do to make Sonar sounds? Is there any settings in kX mixer for ASIO output? Help me please! |

Audio Output in Sonar 3
hi...
Sonar may not be choosing the correct output under the ASIO drivers.... Insert a bus (I think it default names it bus 1) and for its output choose "kX ASIO out 00". Now set the output for each track in your project to bus 1. If you still don't have sound try the other ASIO outputs (you may need to enable the other outputs in Sonar if you dont see them in the drop down menu) on the bus you inserted like "kX ASIO out 02, kX ASIO out 04" ect... there could be confusion with the kX drivers front and rear swapping, although thats just a guess on my part... I have no idea why its not working, I have no problems at all with Sonar and kX ASIO. Hope that helps Sur |

I was having the same problem, but I discovered that the audio file my Sonar was playing has a 44100 Hz sample rate. So I converted the files to 48000 (ASIO only works at this Fs) and now everithing is OK.

Converting from 44100 to 48000
I'm using the Kx Drivers with Sonar 3.1.1
What's the best way to convert the sampling rate for audio data from 44100 to 48000? Or rather, what are you using to perform the conversion? |

May have already answered my own question. The readme for the Sonar 3.1 patch says this is done with an Audio Import. Too bad there's no way to convert an existing project. Saw some references to 3rd party applications, but also just found a reference to r8brain. Any other recommendations? (I'm also a Linux user, so I would guess that perhaps something like Audacity could do this?) |

I think the problem not in the conversion of samples but in project's settings or track properties.
Unfortenately, I didn't solve this problem because I have to change hardware I use (SB Live is _too_ noisy for sound recording, so I migrated to professional soundcard with several sampling modes and good dynamic characteristics). But the last thing I found out investigating this problem was that the 44k-samples can easyly loaded and sounds good in empty project but in existing project they produce no sound. Maybe this investigation helps you solve this problem.
