Logic not recording (another one!!)

Hi,

This is my first message here, I hope you can help....

First some background......

I have recently upgraded my windows to win 2000.

I have also upgraded from logic 4.1.1 to 5.1.1.

I have a SB live (value i think)

When I installed the regular creatoive drivers, there was a huge recording delay...(no suprise i guess)

Yesterday I downloaded the KX project drivers and installed them.

Logic will now not record at all. I have selected the ASIO driver in the hardware tab, but still no joy.

I know the drivers are working as, I can hear what I want to record and CAN record in other programs. e.g soundforge.

I assume this means that it my Logic set up that is wrong...

PLEASE help me. I am at my wits end.

Thanks for reading all this

did you try looking a the help file that comes with kx? Any newcomer should read it thorough. There is an specific ASIO section too. I must have referrend to it about a hundred times since using kx

btw, I think you'll have better results if you upgrade to the latest logic version.

look at my page

hello men8rnb, have a look at this pics, it´s from my logic and kx. in logic-driver window, set only to 2 in and out, it will be much lower latency. in the dsp on the left are the physic. inputs and right is phys. out and asio-in. asio-out comes from FX0/1, FX2/3 is from kx-synth on the soundcard, all other ins are selfdeclared.
here is the link: http://www.angelfire.com/jazz/gad/scshot/index.html
i use a p3/667 run on 750 and get lowest 5.33ms with 8 vsti
hope it helps
regards, gerald

Thanks geraldandreas,

I will try your settings, but I think one of my problems is caused because Windows 2000
has given my soundcard the same IRQ as my modem and my network card...

Also it will not let me change it manually......

I am still looking for the answer.

I would upgrade my version of logic but i do not have the spare cash to buy it, and I do not know anyone with a cracked version.....(of course cracks are bad)

Thanks for you help.

Ok, the IRQ thing.

Windows assigns them automatically unless you change the driver for the "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface" (APCI).

I found this on the web and it worked for me:

With ACPI support enabled IRQ assignment will be handled by Windows itself and can not be manually overridden. To attempt any manual changes to the IRQ configuration in the system ACPI support will need to be disabled.

To disable ACPI support:

1. Open the Device manager for Windows 2000 or Windows XP.
2. Click the ( + ) beside Computer, double-click Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC.
3. Select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button.
4. Change the driver to Standard PC.

1. For Windows XP: Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

For Windows 2000: Click Next and select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver.
2. For Windows XP: Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install. and click Next.

For Windows 2000: Select Show all hardware of this device class.
3. Select Standard PC and click Next.
4. Click Finish.
5. Restart the system.

With ACPI support disabled it should now possible for the system/OS to adjust IRQ assignments.

I hope this is helpfull to someone down the line.

System Specs

windows XP works fine with APCI, it's just win 2k that has serious issues
