Newbie saying hello, etc...
Hello folks
![]() I'm a guitar player using Cubase SX 1 and an old SBLive!Value card for a couple of years, and I've just installed kX to see what it's like. Well... it knocks the Creative driver into a cocked hat, that's for sure... I can't get Cubase to see any signal (surely ASIO / kX DSP setup problem), which I suppose is standard for ignorant newbies . I don't want to start asking the same questions you've heard a million times already - can someone just point me to a FAQ page somewhere? Thanks a lot...

Re: Newbie saying hello, etc...
Doh!
It finally sank through my thick head that I was recording in mono, on the right side only... OF COURSE nothing would happen in Cubase on "Audio 1", which is a left channel.... :shame: I do have a question which I haven't seen mentioned here... How do I disable the monitoring of the signal that's being recorded in Cubase??? (I want to monitor it with fx, just via my mixer, whilst recording a dry signal) Thanks for any help you can give me

hmm monitor w/ fx, record dry signal… i kno logic does that… but for cubase you may have to set 2 audio channels to get audio from the same source, one w/ fx and one recording… hopefully that works.
Or maybe look for an option called non-destructive recording if there is one.(This function is what you are describing)

In fact, by trial-and-error playing around in the DSP window I got what I wanted... It isn't a Cubase function, really - it's a card thing, and in fact the main reason why I changed from the Creative driver. So now I can record a dry signal, which doesn't appear at the card's output during recording, whilst bathing in the luxury of reverb and stuff via the aux send of my (hardware) mixer. Wonderful! I have to say that kX rocks!! And thanks for the getting starting link...

- On the mixer AC'97 page, the recording source should be "line in" (or whatever you want to record) and the volume knob should be all the way down. - On the mixer in- and output page, AC'97 input should be turned on. - On the recording page, seems like this page doesn't matter at all. (Maybe the ASIO recording doesn't pass through this page.) - And the final thing: in the DSP, make sure you disconnect the two AC'97 input from the prolog to the xrouting. // David |
