another Generic ASIO WDM Driver

have found a very fast asio driver, i can use it on a lappy p3/900 with ali-soundchip with around 6ms, and i´ve found a cool software also. look at http://membres.lycos.fr/asiox/ and to http://www.plogue.com/index.php?opti...d=11&Itemid=28
SW Bidule looks like a little bit our dsp, but the SW is using asio and VSTi also.
i´ve tried with wuschels asio4all, http://michael.tippach.bei.t-online.de/asio4all/,
with http://www.asio2ks.de/ and with this ASIOx. it is a very fast asio, but only 1 stereo in and one out in all 3 driver.

ASIOx the first link - multiple soundcards under asio? interesting, and bidule appears to be a software app similiar to the DSP - one that creates a virtual rackmounted audio studio… i think another kX forum member has used bidule w/ kX

I've been using bidule with kX for a few weeks now. Bidule is very much like the kxDSP, completely flexible and absolutely addictive! If you check the Audio encoding forum at www.doom9.org, I've been involved with discussions near the end of the first thread in the forum, concerning upmixing stereo to 5.1. This involves using almost all freeware available around the net to implement some interesting audio processing known as Ambisonics.

Bidule supports VST plugins natively, and if one uses a DXrack (there's a free one from Spinaudio), it's possible to use DirectX plugins as well. You can output your mixes to a file recorder. For the 5.1 project, the resulting file is a 6-channel wave file. You can then use the freeware program Besweet to split the file and even encode to AC3. Software also exists for encoding to DTS. In addition to audio tracks for video, it's possible to create 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS CDs that can be played back on most home theatre systems.

I can't recommend Bidule enough. The combination of it with kX is truly amazing!

If anyone is interested, check out the Doom9 forum thread mentioned above or the Projects/Ursa's UpMix Studio folder at http://www.needfulthings.webhop.org/.

Enjoy!
