Hello all ..
I m new here, comming over because of a weid problems with latency.... Exactly the oposite of a lot of people here... I can play in realtime every VSti or any big samples (akai) with HaLion without any latency !!! BUT when I start to record a simple thing (just a bass on each click of the metronome) I get latency when it record and when I playback !!! about 1 second or more.... I can't understand that ... please help !!! thanks in advance !!! My config is : asus a7n8x-x, AMD 1500+, 512 ddr pc2700, 2 hd 40Go 7200T and a sounblaster live with kx driver 3537 winXP pro service pack 1 ... so far I just want to make midi tunes... with the good quality of halion and many samples I ve got ... no need to recor audio (voice or guitare) so I ll buy an expansive card later ... sorry for my english.... I do my best...

Hi!
Be sure you have loaded soundfonts into the kX-Synths (go to kX tray, right-click ->Soundfonts.) You will find some of them on the original CreativeCD (extender .sf2), choose the 8MByte one. Then select in your sequencer kX-Synth 1 or 2 as Midi output device. Don´t use Microsoft Wavetable Synth ! Be also sure you have selected kX-Asio as Multitrack driver @ 48kHz and hardware acceleration set to full in multimedia properties. Greetings! TravelRec.

Thank you for the reply ...
but first : I don't have the 8 Mgb soundfont on the creative cd !! just a 4 mgb (file is ... CT4MGM.SF2) I loaded it in the soundfonbt manager of Kx ... but I have to reload it in cubase sx ... then it works but still got latency during recording... hardware acceleration is ok ... and kx asio driver loaded at 48 khz second... I want to play with HALion... I relay don't like the soundfont so I put Halion in the Midi out... I buy a lot of samples cd from akai... so I want to use them and not soundfont ... still got the weird problemes... here is my KX buffer config (in apearence order ..): 2048 KB 8184bytes (~8.53ms) 16383 bytes 8 buffers 256 samples is it correct what can I change in wich way ??? thanks for your patience !!!

Ah, sorry for misunderstanding - I read Midi and I thought about the kXSynth first - btw what is your sequencer program and what version - have you tried another for testing? I also use SX (1.06) and it works really fine with spec´s listed below. Say more!

I have the same Problem, using Cubase SX v2.0.2.31
Audio latency with ASIO is ok, but I get HEAVY delays when trying to record midi input from my keyboard within Cubase. No Problems with GSIF by the way, when I route the midi input directly to Gigastudio, it works wonderfully. My card is an Audigy2ZS - and I already regret to have wasted money on that one. edit: Aah, forgot the rest of my config... The CPU is a P4 2,0ghz (Northwood), running at 100(effectively 400)mhz FSB, hogged to a Gigabyte GA-8IRXP, with an Intel i845 chipset. The System has 512MB ram, running at 133/266mhz (I don't know why it runs asynch. As long as it works, who cares anyway) The soundcard does NOT share an IRQ with another device. I get the same delays on both midi inputs. Doesn't matter if I connect the keyboard to the gameport or to the external IO box. Last edited by FadeToBlack; Oct 30, 2004 at 02:58 PM. |

korto:
I just recently started experiencing a MIDI latency problem using kX Driver v3538a and Sonar 4. What I found out is MIDI works great with ASIO playback and recording of softsynths and vocal tracks with no audio plugin inserted on an audio track or bus, but as soon as I add an audio plugin on an audio track or bus, the MIDI latency problem starts (delay in MIDI note playing) during recording MIDI (although softsynth's playback latency is OK). So, if you have plugins on an audio track (even a softsynth audio track) or in a BUS, delete them, and see if you can record MIDI with low latency. If you dont have audio tracks or buses with plugins on them, I'm sorry for making this post. thomasabarnes

Problem solved. I completely deinstalled the KX drivers, reinstalled them and reselected the kx asio driver in cubase options. Lag is gone now.
I don't know what caused that at all. |
