Cubase, SBLive and sound problems
Hi.
Here's the soft and hardware: SBLive (SB0102) with kX (3537) and Cubase SX2. Windows XP, AMD Athlon 2500+, 1024MB RAM, Asus A7N8X-E board with NVidia chipset (on-board audio and COM-ports disabled), USB mouse, SATA HDD And here's the thing with Cubase: During playback sound "freezes" for a fraction of second when: 1) I start another program or sometimes when i switch windows 2) when I move a block (sample or midi notes box) (the window scrolls automatically left or right, you know) in project editor window. 3) and this is the case with any (incl low CPU consuming) project Recorded this on MiniDisc, mp3 clips here: * www.artun.ee/~doppler/live-cr1.mp3 * www.artun.ee/~doppler/live-cr2.mp3 (I set Cubase to play and started opening mozilla, cooledit etc). Cubase outputs to kX 8/9, though this should not be an issue, right? I have not noticed any problems when Winamp is playing. I tried moving the card from PCI 5 to PCI 4. Windows assigned it IRQ 16 when in slot 5, now it assigns IRQ17 (slot 4). Weird - in Device Manager Windows says SB is in PCI slot 6 (although it is in slot 4, and this 4 I can read next to the slot). //What is the thing with IRQs anyway? Old SoundBlasters were assigned IRQ5, does it make any difference?// Anyway - neither IRQ16 nor 17 conflict with any other devices, so that should be OK. The sound defects _seem_ to be the same when kX ASIO latency is set to 5.33 and when it's 21.33. Any suggestions? Which settings should I try? |

Roma, you mean you have the same card (SBLive! 5.1)?

First of all...
Check that your cubase sx 2 is updated to cubase sx2.2 second don't start other programs when you are working with cubase sx.. Cubase is a very demanding program thus, when you are using windows XP switch to classic windows theme, and go to my computer>properties>advanced> and set your system form best performance. Then Open Cubase sx open an empty template and go to Device setup> vst multitrack and set kx asio.... then go to vst connections and if you are using aux 2 inputs.. and you made sure you have unmuted aux2 from kx mixer... add a buss at 3kxinput4 and 4kxinput5 (left and right respectively) and add another bus 14kxinput15 and 15kxinput16. close.. you should be set.. just remember to save your new template and always open this template first when you are using cubase sx hop that would be helpfull |
