Two ASIO programs at once
Hello,
Does ASIO allow having multiple ASIO transformation programs at once ? I have Guitar Rig working great with kx ASIO drivers, but if I start another instance of Guitar Rig, or some other ASIO program (I tried jesusonic, for example), then kx ASIO drops a cryptic error message, resets it's hz rate/latency, and GuitarRig loses sound until I restart it... Is there something I am doing wrong ? |

The purpose I want to achieve is to connect both a guitar and bass guitar to the computer, run separate effects software on them through ASIO, and then mix it on the soundcard for recording and output.

I might be mistaken, but I heard ASIO specification allows only one instance of asio driver, and only one asio host at once. You need an asio/vst host like Cubase to load multiple effects/instruments into. You could also try Xlutop Chainer (there's a free trial on the web). Do a google search on "ASIO VST host" to find other options..

You should also check out FLStudio. I run 2 mic's into it and run seperate FX on each mic at 2ms latency.
I can show you some pics of my setup if it helps. I also use IK's Amplitube in FLStudio for realtime guitar processing. I could easily setup 2 rigs with seperate FX in FLStudio. |

You can install ASIO4ALL, so in one software you let kX drive the card and in the other ASIO4ALL will do it. It works fine that way.

Yes I use ASIO4ALL in simultainioulsy with kX. I run VSTack (set to kX ASIO) and Logic 5.5.1 (set to ASIO4ALL) at the same time in my live keyboard rig setup. See screen shots here http://schel.homestead.com/rig.html
Havent tried this with 3538 or the newer version of ASIO4ALL, but it works great with 3537 and ASIO4ALL 1.8. Toad |

if you have a multi-card setup - the latest version of 3538 supports one ASIO driver per card

DJ_Stick, I think what Daniel D mentioned above, is something that doesnt depend on the ASIO support of more than one ASIO driver by kX.
Daniel D: How's it coming with that 1212? |

Thomas, it's working great, nice sound, low latency and I really like it, although I miss the modularity and tweakability of kX. kX is also more stable than EMU drivers (when ASIO crashes you'll have to restart...) and is updated more frequently (better support).
