ASIO not appearing in Logic or working probs...
Hello all,
I have installed the kX driver for my SB Live! 5.1 and everything seems to be in working order... except for a ASIO line problem, everything should be routed from my Live drive to the proper ASIO channels (I plug a guitar into the line-in on the bay - line in 2 in kx - and route these to ASIO channels 8-9 (for left and right) however I get no sound inputs in guitarRig and even stranger and more of a problem is that in Logic, I should have 15 ASIO inputs, but I can only select input 1 or 2 in Logic when I try to assign one to a track. What gives !? What am I doing wrong ? |

have you set the samplerate to 48khz
and you should have 16 asio inputs

I have set the samplerate to 48 kHz like you mentioned but it didn't completely solve the problem with the 16 inputs, however I found out when I uncheck the 'PC AV' in the Audio Preferences (so it's solely relying on the kX ASIO) and restart Logic all the inputs are at my disposal. Should have thought of it before, perhaps.
Oh the unnoticable minimal latency when adding a guitarRig plugin make me sleep warm in my bed. However a new question arises: Logic seems to crash (which it never really did) when stopping/playing a song when a MIDI-controlled AudioInst is used, anyone got a clue as to what to reason for that could be ? Bare in mind I'm a bit of noob when it comes to this. |

that doesn't happen to me
all of my tracks are audioinst based does it happen with only one VSTi, or all of them?

So far I noticed it works fine with everything when I only use audioInsts, but when I mix wave tracks with a ES1 audioInst, it crashes as soon as the playhead reaches the bit where the audioInst starts.
Now this is happening from a session I created using PC AV, but Logic converted it to ASIO when opening the file, so that shouldn't be a problem... should it ? Thanks.

no converting between PC AV shouldn't affect this
you say ES1 - that's a logic instrument, so that rules out the possibility of a dodgy VSTi open the Audio menu and select "System performance" maybe your computer doesn't have enough juice - but that step above should show you if it's pushing the limits

When I used PC AV it had the juice to do so, when I lower the disk buffers though as you suggested, Logic just quits without warning when it crashes...
bah

try increasing the latency when using ASIO

Okay, I increased the latency from 5.33 to 48.xx ms and the problem still occured.
I even removed and reinstalled Logic in an act of mild madness. Then I thought to myself 'what if the LSO file I have been testing on for the past day is damaged or something mad like that?' and tested with another file which had the same features (lots of audio tracks combined with audio instruments, VSTs and other plugins) and it ran just fine, even more amazing considering the fact that it uses a lot more resources to actually play... I actually removed ASIO for Logic and ran it using solely PC AV (what I used when I made the LSO I have been testing on) and the problem kept reoccuring, so I think that maybe that IS the problem... everything else seems to be working fine and amazingly fast and everything too... thank you for your time!
