Record ASIO output.

I have a Dell SBlive! (I know it's unsupported, but it works like a charm).
I'm plugging my guitar to a pod, to the line in. The sound directly from the line in sucks, so I'm using Jesusonic(.com), and when playing live with it, it sounds sick (in a good way). But when using jesusonics filewriter-thing, it sounds just thin. I think it's the ASIO latency that creates a fake-delay in some way, that makes it sound sick. And the line in-input raw+jesusonic is what to record.

I don't really understand the router\dsp thingie in kx, so I would just like instructions on how to rout the asio output to any channel that I can record (not AC97, as I'm using AC97 to feed Jesusonic the line-in).
Or anyway trlyhat I can record both asio-output and raw linein-output together.

Sorry if I'm really unclear, I just woke up, so I can't think clearly.

Yeah, it is actually really cool. Just download the software, I don't know about the hardware though. But they may be out someday.

For you who don't know it already, this project was started by the founder of Nullsoft.

What you want to do is easy, if I understand you correctly. You say you want to record the ASIO output to any ASIO channel, right? You should have given more info, though. We dont know what youre recording with (Sequencer, Windows recorder, auido editing program, etc.), or your soundcard. If I knew your soundcard, I probably could have posted a DSP setup for you on the kX Preset Exchange site.

If using a sequencer (Cubase SX, SONAR, etc.), clear the DSP

1) add three instances of ProFX SRC, set them to FX Bus 0/1 (name it ASIO 0/1), FX Bus 2/3 (name it ASIO 2/3), and FX Bus 4/5 (name it ASIO 4/5) .

2) Load ProFX ASIO plugin, and ProFX k2lt if you have an Audigy/2 (K1lt if you have a SB Live).

3) Connect SRC ASIO 0/1 to K1il (or K2lt) top pins (Analog Front)

4) Connect the SRC ASIO 2/3, and 4/5 to the corresponding ASIO plugin pins

5) In your Sequencer, set ASIO 0/1 as the output for the playback audio you want to record. In another track, select ASIO 2/3 as the input so you can record, or you can select ASIO 4/5 as the input so you can record. Get it?

See this guide so you can get an understanding of how kX works: http://members.home.nl/nahutec/kxtutor/kxtutor.html

The ProFX SRC plugins carry the PC's internal ASIO playback signals, and the ProFX ASIO plugin is the ASIO recording source.

The K1lt or k2lt have the speaker outputs and the WinMM recording.

If youre trying to record with Windows recorder or a program that uses WinMM, you would connect the ProFX SRC plugins to the WinMM pins on k1lt or k2lt.

I hope this helps you.

Ok. So I followed your advice, and the guide you linked to, and at least I understand the dsp now. My only problem is that Jesusonic doesn't "share" its output with for example Cubase, so if I have jesusonic open and start cubase with the same asio channel open, then I just get error messages.
This is what I have done so far: http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/2034/kxdsp1bp.png (I don't know why that link is messed up, but just click it and then remove the .th from the adress.

But what I will need then is some way to wire the asio out 8\9 to another asio input channel, and I would be ready to go.
But with this setup, all asio channels seems to work, even though when I try the self asio test in cubase sx 3, I get errors all the time. So help with that would be appreciated also.

If jesusonic doesnt share the asio driver with another program, you wont be able to record its output in Cubase SX, as far as I know.

I'll get jesusonic and see what's up.

I will post again later.

Okay. So it works now. I just put the ASIO out 8\9 send b to 12\13 and recorded that in cubase. So, the setup is as in my last post, just with a src fxbus 12\13 connected to asio 12/13.
Thanks for all help! If anyone wants the setup, just let me know.

I would still love to know about the cubase' self test though. Why does it just end up in errors?

If what works?
I can record from cubase, the output from jesusonic. What I do it that I feed fxbus 10/11 with KX ASIO out 8/9 (jesusonics) output, with the send knobs.
Then I just wire fxbus 10/11 to ASIO in whatever and record.
But I will redo it all now, as I just got a BSOD, but this time I will do it more carefully, last time it was just "omfg, I now how to master the kx dsp", but at least I know how to do.
But it anyone wants it, I can upload it to the package section when I have done it.

But once again, thanks for your help! If anyone knows about that cubase problem, let me know. But I think it was just my stupid dsp setup.
