Whos got the most inputs?
Just wondering who has got 6,8,10,12, more??
I went through many multicard setups trying to 4 and 6 inputs. At one point I had 2 lives hooked to an audigy, but i could never get the the perfomance right. I think all the IRQs got in the way. Then i was given a Live Drive that came from a SB live package but works fine with my audigy, and then finally figured out how to the line in and mic in on the card to seperate. So now i have mic in L/R, line in L/R, aux line L/R (on live drive) Mic2 in L/R(on live drive with the built in preamp) and the SPDIF In (on the Live drive) which works great with my MAudio Tampa Mic Preamp/compresor. 8 analogs and a SPDIF. Oh yea and i just loaded 3538i with no problems, (i was worried about the the mic in/line in split, took me forever to get those seperated using those kx command line edits). Toad |

Hi!
My setup is: Audigy 1 SB0090 1 stereo Line-in analog (via UDA-ADC routed with ProFX) 1 stereo Aux-in analog (via AC97) 3 stereo SPIDF in digital (via CD-SPDIF and AUD_EXT Header) coming from external A/D-unit 1 stereo I2S in digital(via AUD_EXT Header) coming from external A/D unit 1 stereo I2S in digital (via AUD_EXT header) coming from A/D unit inside the computer Summary: 7 stereo inputs, or 14 mono Additional: 3 stereo out analog (Front/Rear/Center-Sub) 4 stereo SPDIF out digital (for recording with digital external devices) Summary: 7 stereo outputs, or 14 mono Greetings, TravelRec. |

I do 6 analog at the moment, not sure that my puter can handle more, though I could squeak out 4 more analog with the Audigy I and Audigy II ZS.
I have a question for dj_stick about a preset you uploaded to the preset site. http://my.kxproject.lugosoft.com/presets/60.jpg Judging by the description, this is one of your SEND cards-right? So using a DSP like this, only putting in what you need for the inputs for the SEND cards will result in lower CPU usage-correct? Thanks, Doug |

I'm trying to achieve 3 stereo SPDIF in on my Audigy2 zs by faking the liveDrive. Acording to the AD_EXT connector pinout by Samir I see only 2 potential SPDIF ins... the SPDIF0 in (pin 5) and CD-SPDIF in. Could you clue me in on your secret? I assume it has something to do with SPDIF C (Z-video I2s) listed in the prolog on the 'kx IO/DSP Assignments' page, but i don't see it on AD_EXT connector. I hope that my copy of the AD_EXT pinout reference is up to date. If anyone else has any input, It would be greatly appreciated. An extra SPDIF in would greatly improve my configuration. |

The secret is: I have the Audigy 1 card (SB0090), it has 2 SPIDF inputs working on AUD_EXT and 1 CD-SPDIF input. This is not with Audigy2 cards due to a different AD_EXT connector. Iīm nearly sure, the custom chip on Audigy2 has the 3rd input anywhere, but itīs not routed to the connector. This is the main reason why I keep my good old card - it has the most possible number of in/out connections.

If i slave my A2ZS to my A-ES i can use it's pair of inputs, aswell as the input from my onboard sound - total of 5 stereo inputs - not bad considering the only "modding" i've done is wiring them together and added jacks to the AUX_IN headers

My hope was to pull another analog from a slave card and pass it digital to the host card. If I had your mad skills I would fashion some sort of electrical whjachamahici to make use of the i2s (Aux2 and LineIn2). Without a liveDrive or any external ADCs or DACs, here are my possible ins and outs.. Let me know if you see more potential than what I've milked out of it. I have 3 Audigy2 zs cards (should have stuck with Audigy 1?) I name them Host, Slave 1 (S1), Slave 2 (S2) Analog Ins: - 1 Stereo LineIn(AC97-2) -- (Onboard Host) - 1 Stereo LineIn(AC97-2) -- (Onboard S1 passed to Host SPDIF0in) - 1 Stereo LineIn(AC97-2) -- (Onboard S2 passed to Host CD-SPDIFin) - 1 Stereo Aux(AC97) ------- (Onboard Host) Analog Outs: - 4 Stereo (Onboard Host) - 2 Stereo (Onboard S1 passed from Host SPDIF0/1) - 2 Stereo (Onboard S2 passed from Host SPDIF2/3) That's total 8 mono in 16 mono out If I could make use of 2 i2s inputs(Aux2, Lin2) on Host I would have 12 mono in. Right now everything is direct jumped from card to card, but I plan to add a jack panel to the front of my box with all possible ins/outs from all 3 cards. Then just jump them external with patchcords to have a wider range of configs. i.e.- swap some analog in/out for dig in/out. Thanks for the info guys... I was afraid it WAS that simple.(hardware limitation) |

Nice setup BTW, so you donīt have any problems with driver coexistence between your MoBo-sound-system and 3x kX? How you have installed all the cards?
If you can get a used Audigy1 you could add the thing as master input card for ASIO and then chain all together, but you will need a lot of wires .

No, I don't have motherboard sound... Maybe I misused word "onboard". what I meant was 'Physically located on the _____ soundcard' The Only problem I had with setting up 3 cards was initial IRQ issues, but I managed to untangle that problem. Quote:
People talk of difficulty splitting the ac97 ins even when using 3538i, but i didn't even need to use command line edits (just had to click the right Mixer buttons) Quote:
I already have lots of wires though, i view that as a good thing. I found that the best and cheapest way to jump the cards was to rip the connectors off of a 40 pin IDE cable and just solder and heat shrink my shielded audio cable to them. These connectors fit perfectly to the AD_EXT pins and makes for a neatly bundled jumper cable. Though my ideal setup would be to jack patch from the front of the box for more flexibility. I'll take pictures after I complete my next phase. Also scan in my schematics for anyone who might want to do something similar. Something else I found that helped to relieve some floor noise in my inputs was to slide a shield between all of my cards with some aluminum window screen sealed in laminate to keep from shorting on the cards. Anyone else have some noise lowering tips? |

I have this setup:
Audigy 1, kx 3538i 2 x stereo from line 2/mic 2 on Live Drive 2 x stereo from Tascam US-224 connected to coaxial S-PDIF on Live Drive 2 x stereo from Aux In on Live Drive 2 x stereo inputs from MOTU 2408 connected to optical S-PDIP on Live Drive 2 x stereo from Line In on Audigy card 3 x stereo FX using ProFX Src Using Nuendo 3 that 16 mono inputs (actually a lot more than that considering the MOTU has 8 mono inputs and the Tascam has 4) |
