kX routing

I've been trying to record from Steinberg V-STACK's ASIO output into Cakewalk Music Creator Pro's ASIO input with kX. I've gotten it to work by setting up V-STACK to output to the first ASIO output, which I then route to the last ASIO input. Cakewalk uses the second ASIO output. This works on and off, but is very unstable, and I'll usually get this error message after a little while:

Error creating input buffer #0: error = -2147024809 [size=1024]
GetLastError()=2
E_INVALIDARG: Too big latency and to many channels -- resetting latency...
Retry?

If I click OK, the ASIO latency is set to 21 ms, and Cakewalk's audio stops working. Is there a better way to do it?

I'm using Win XP and an SB Audigy 2 ZS, and I don't use surround sound or digital outputs or anything like that, just ordinary stereo speakers.

I got similar errors when trying to run 2 different asio apps/hosts at the same time. For Example: Vstack and Logic, or 2 stand alone softsynths like Pro53 and B4. i experemented with alot of different setups while building my live/stage keyboard setup. I really wanted to run Vstack and Logic at the same time and had to resort to using ASIO4ALL driver for Logic and kX for Vstack. The buffer error went away.

In your situation, Does Cakewalk support the VST instruments? I would be alot easier for you if you could just load the instruments into Cakewalk. Or to use a sequencer that supports VSTi. But you could running Vstack with ASIO4ALL and Cakewalk with kX.

I'll try ASIO4ALL and see if it works. Cakewalk supports DXi only, but I bought the Cakewalk VST Adapter, so I can use VSTi's in Cakewalk. I wanted to use V-STACK because of the realtime control possibilities - for example, I like to play the Plugsound Free "Old Dirty Clav" patch with a wah effect controlled by an expression pedal. DX effects don't receive MIDI input, and Cakewalk doesn't allow me to do live automation like that, so I want to use V-STACK.

By the way, how are you supposed to pronounce all of these acronyms liks MIDI and ASIO and?
