Is there any particulair software you are using?
There are many posts in the forum dealing with a particulair software/host. Try searching the forum for Asio and whatever software you are using.

Also, Lemury has a guide on using Cubase SX with kX that you might find useful. You can find that here: A Newbie Guide - "How to setup Cubase SX with KX"

Ok, that should get your started, but be aware of the Asio mapping issue with some Live! 5.1 cards. See Lemury's guide for more info, or search the forum.

i am having a problem with recording
i have a my asio set up so i can get channels sent to my kx dsp and have fx process them there and go back into my sequencer in live.

it all works fine but i noticed that my fx arent recorded. how do i fix this?

What are you using to record? (again)

We cant help with out knowing this. Cubase is the most likely to cause confusion. But there are guides for that.

VST effects or kX effects?

In any case, for VST effects, it would depend on your software (so as Maddogg6 indicated, we would need to know what that is). For kX effects it would be a matter of your DSP setup (routing), so we would need to know that.

That line is confusing. What are you using for recording (Asio, MME, etc)?
It sounds like you have something using Asio to send a signal into the DSP, where effects are applied, etc, and then you are recording it in another program, but you did not specify what kX outputs you are using to do this. Can you explain a little better what you are trying to do?

im using asio sendig wavfiles to a kx dynamics processor from the src module then back out into a regular track to send to the master track. i hear the processing but it doesnt record(in the same program).

Ok, I think I understand what you are doing, but unfortunatley I am not familair with that software (I am not even sure what program that is) so I am not going to be of much help.

You need to record ASIO 0/1 - you may beed to turn on a 'monitor' in order to hear what it should record. - Or muting other tracks to avoid recording tracks you dont wnat recorded.

It looks like its set to 'KXSEND' which seems like it needs to be 'KX RETURN' - so not sure if you labled ports differently to what Im used to.. but that TOP 'AUDIO IN FROM' should be that ASIO 0/1 INPUT.

the DSP looks right - the way you've set it up should work, it's definately an issue with Live imo
have you armed the track for recording?

i just clilck the global record button and it records all my actions lemme try armimg

hhmmm i have tried arming every track that has something to do with the wave dile and no luck

gonna look around the ableton site.
damn i wish i could just drop ableton and go back to work on my puredata project but i have a song due in a few days

Just so we are clear, you are getting the signal into Ableton from kX (i.e. you have some visual indication of the signal (in Ableton) of the 4 Asio inputs?), right? Also, something is being recorded, it just not recording what you expected it to, right?

it's getting recorded and a wavefile in live is being sent to the kx dsp and back into live . it's all audible but after recording the fx arent there anymore. the fx dont get recorded

Ok, so it sounds like maybe you are recording the wrong track or selected the wrong input on the track that you are recording?
I downloaded the Ableton demo and did a quick test similair to your setup and it recorded correctly.
Maybe you should start with something a little less complicated to make sure you understand the basics first (i.e. only 2 sources, 1 effect, and epilog).
Set Ableton's Master Ouput to use Asio(0/1).
Set the wave to use Asio(2/3) for ouput (no input).
For the track you want to record, set it's input to Asio(4/5) and it's ouput to Master and Arm it for recording.
in KX, connect FxBus(0/1) to your speakers.
Connect FxBus(2/3) to your effect, and then from the effect to Asio(4/5) on epilog.
Then try recording.

<edit>
I changed above to use Asio(4/5) for recording because of Live! 5.1 issues.

i'll try that. actualy im doing it now but i need it to be able to record on the same track as it is playing on.
the reason for this is i'll be doing things live and recording to new tracks would take lots of space and resources

ok that worked but it isnt optimised for a live situation i guess i'll have to dedicate a bank of controllers to themixer functions(fooey)

unless i can figure out how to record a track into the same track.

Is that supposed to be possible in Ableton? I see that you can do overdubbing with midi but I didn't see a way to do it for wav's, etc. Again, I only just downloaded the demo so I do not know a lot about it.

Can you make 'virtual' busses in ableton? - you may need to mix the tracks into a virtual buss within ableton and set that as an input for a track (to monitor and to record) - is the ableton manual available at a web site?

Im not completely clear why what russ recommended isnt optimized for 'live' situation..

Id need to better understand your goal.

You may be able to re-rout asio in dsp to accomplish what you want - which could ease some load off CPU.. but Id need better understanding of what your recording - (Making clips to be re-mixed later) or.. (Recording complete complete songs from remixing live)

I would imagine Id make a DSP set up for each occasion - especially with a SBLive. - and may even need a custom DSP for each song - depending on level of KX taking CPU load.
I have some projects like that - KX DSP to match my songs particular requirements.

Not optimal at all - but its what I would do as a work around budget/resource 'road-blocks'...

I will say tho - I like how Abletons GUI is.. nice, neat and easy on the eyes (Like airplane readouts - quick glimpse and brain comprehends easy)

But - I have a hard time grasping live remixing as a work flow standpoint.

yeah i do that most of the time for just about everything that i do with the dsp but im not the best at it yet
