[Help] Asio plugin isnt working with Winamp
Hi guys im actually using kX Driver 3438"h" and want to use Asio as my Winamp output plugin without resampling because HQSoftProc is already resampling. Actually i use wave output with HQ with DSP off because Asio isnt working if i choose it as output in the HQSoftproc submenu. If i start winamp it jumps fast from track to track without playing any music. How do i have to set up the plugin itself or the kx audio driver to make Asio work in Winamp ?
Here is a screenshot from my Winamp configuration: mitglied.lycos.de/bkfhw2004/winamp_1.jpg Setup: Audigy 2 2.1 Stereo WinXp Pro |

winamp skips over files with 'sample rate incompatable' errors.
So, thats what you seeing i beleive. Check the KX ASIO control panel and make sure the 'format' is set correctly. I cant find the ASIO winamp plugin - so I cant go further. |

You seem to be the only one which have the skills to help me
.You can find the Asio Plugin here: http://www3.cypress.ne.jp/otachan/ D/L the .dll or the .exe plugin for Winamp 5. You have to choose after D/L then if you go on SSE ( Athlon XP) or SSE 2 (P4/Athlon 64). I have no idea what to change in the Asio control Panel, i tried to switch to 44,1 16+0 khz but it didnt worked. If i select the Asio plugin as the main output plugin, winamp starts to play but i hear no sound. But if i choose Asio as output after HQSoftProc it skips the tracks like described .I think some settings in the kX Router have to be done but which ? Here you can read a interesting discussion about the case: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...ghlight=WaveHQ Last edited by r3b; Nov 14, 2005 at 11:11 AM. |

Switch the ASIO format in kx asio cp to '24/96 (8+8)'
Not sure why you would try the 44 and NOT the 96 ??. lol Bare in mind - this may still not work - unless the SRC in winamp will do 24 bit also..?? Also, I read up on that plugin - and its no longer developed because DS has low enough latency - which IS what I use. Is there some reason why you HAVE to use ASIO?? |

DS = Direct Sound
refering to which output device/interface in winamp, Wave, DirectSound, ASIO etc.. IS - I was just emphasizing the interface that I use, as well as it being what the developers of the winamp ASIO plugin recommend. The ASIO plugin for winamp was developed to giver lower latency, but directsound has improved enough to no longer require the need for the ASIO interface (for most). - as basically stated on the plugin developers website. |

Which Plugin is better for output after HQSoftProc resample, Direct Sound v.2.41 or WaveOut output v.2.1 both with HQ?

Direct sound is (my) 1st choice - then wave out. (as far as I know, the wave out is kept for backward compatibility, or maybe some cards require that interface)
I currently use the HQSoftProc, with DS set to KX HQ - the wave out interface stops the winamp volume slider from working for me as I recall. Quality didnt seem to be affected, but I didnt keep that on for too long either, I may not have even tried it with the resample plugin ??. see what you like better your self. |
