Latency with Sample Library Symphonic Orchester Silver

Hi everyone,
I am new at this forum but you got recommended by a couple of other websites to be the specialist with Soundblaster.

So my problem is that when I use the Sample Library "Symphonic Orchester Silver" from "East West" I get a latency of 52 ms, which makes the play performance feel like hitting a spounge.

My system:

Shuttle P4 3,2 GHz, 800 MHz FSB
1 Gig Ram
Soundblaster Audigy 1 Platinum ex
2x 160Gig WD

To my surprise I changed the sample rate in the software of the library to 96000, which is actually unsupported by the library. But the latency dropped to 25ms which is still not realy a pleasure.

So what can I do besides buying more Ram and a new soundcard? Is there anything I can tweek or change to make my Soundblaster card faster? I realy cannot beleive that this card blows that much concerning sampling performance especially knowing that my computer should take alot of work off the soundcard. So what can I do?

Thanks for your help!

Marc

It is not clear to me what driver you currently use. kX or Creative?

Anyway;
"Symphonic Orchester Silver" comes with Kontakt which supports ASIO.
Now lets assume that "Symphonic Orchester Silver+Kontakt " is good software,
then with kX drivers ASIO (and looking at your PC specs) you should be able
to achieve at least 10ms.
Probably 5ms as well provided that you are not 'hogging' your pc with all kinds of
processes running in the background or IRQ sharing issues etc etc.

You might want to take a look at this guide for optimizing your system for audio programs. It's for a PC running Windows XP, though. You didnt mention your operating system.
