ASIO Driver kX ASIO could not be loaded.

Hi

I'm running an SB0090 10k2 (e800) on WinXP. Everything used to work fine. Since installing SP2 (I'm guessing it is since then) I have been unable to load the kX ASIO driver. The ASIO Control panel no longer opens in kX Mixer and I get the error "ASIO Driver kX ASIO could not be loaded" when I try to switch to the kX ASIO driver in Cubase SX. Some other programs give me an 'kX ASIO driver already in use' type error, even when the bear minimum of processes are running.

I have searched this forum and tried the following recommendations:
- Acceleration set to Full (always has been)
- Clean uninstall kX drivers & reinstall

I have also tried using the 3538 drivers, with no luck.

Is there any way to manually install the kX ASIO drivers?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Maybe the Asio registry key got damaged, although I think that a clean install of kX would fix it. Did you do a full uninstall and then reinstall?

Check the following registry key to see if it exists:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO
Under that key should be a number of 'kX ASIO Driver' keys.

You might try deleting all those keys from the registry and then reinstall kX (you may want to backup (export to a .reg file) those keys or backup the entire registry before you delete them).

While testing something, I noticed that if Hardware Acceleration for audio playback is not set to full, that kX's ASIO Control Panel will not open, and you will get errors similair to the above in any software that wants to use kX ASIO. I remembered this thread and thought I would post this info for anyone that runs into a similair problem.

Thanks for your replies. Broken registry sounded like the right sort of idea to me, but it didn't actually fix it. I checked the hardware acceleration and that was set to full.

Certainly an interesting problem, I'm sure both solutions will be useful for other people with similar problems, but in the end it was the ol' windows reinstall for me. Back up and running now.

I hope there is a real solution for this problem besides windows reinstallation... I will try the registry thing ASAP, and I will give my report here...

Uninstall everything KX related, package, driver, folders n regs.

Then reinstall needed KX driver.

Setting accelleration and sample quality to full solved it for me on my SBLive 5.1 and Audigy2ZS notebook
