ASIO Woes with Guitar Rig...
OK, I'm trying to get my system setup so that my SB Live! 5.1 takes the input from line-in from my guitar/pre-amp, Guitar Rig will read that ASIO input (namely the KX one) and output it to my other sound card...
I'm trying to use the ProFX plugins, and using the peak meter I can see that I have input etc, I'm routing to ASIO 5/6, but in Guitar Rig there is no sound. Also, I can't seem to use ASIO w/ KX and my Realtec (don't laugh) for output... is this even possible? |

I am not an expert on it, and I do not have a multiple card setup to test, but it seems that most programs force you to use the same driver for both input and output.
i.e. If you choose kX Asio for input, then the only output devices listed are kX Asio Devices (and vice-versa). If you could choose seperate input and output drivers, than it might be possible to use kX Asio for input and the Realtek card for ouput, but this does not seem possible with most applications. Without the software option, the only other option is to physically connect the 2 cards together. As for setting up Guitar Rig for use with kX, there are many threads in this forum about it, so if you do a quick search you should find the info necessary to get it working. The main issues seem to be, to set Guitar Rig to use a 48000 sample rate, and the ASIO Mapping issue (the ASIO mapping issue basically boils down to the fact that the ASIO port numbering *may* not be the same in the host application and kX, and thus you may have to figure out the mapping yourself. (i.e. try differert inputs in the host software until you find the right one(s)). Search the forum for more info about the ASIO mapping issue). |

I believe if you want to use multi-soundcard for input/output you must use the WDM device, pretty sure even if both devices are ASIO you are restricted to 1 asio device per application unless someone knows of an ASIO bridge driver out there? Never needed this much myself, but i did try the WDM multiple card setup with SBLive! MP3+ (CT4767) and the Avance Logic ALS120, it worked but it was very slow (but remember this was back in 2001 so hardware was slower, too). I think the best bet is get an ASIO compliant multi-in soundcard if you want to do studio recording, or get a mixer and you can divide the stereo channel into 2 mono channels and apply your effects from within the program (or dsp too). I did this when I found out that mic -in and line-in couldnt record at the same time, worked pretty good but I had to have the external mixer board to boost the mic levels enough to get it to record... have fun with that anyways -O |
