Guitar Rig 2 & ASIO - bit of an odd problem

I have a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 & 3534 drivers running on W2K SP4. Guitar Rig 2 works absolutely fine using the KX ASIO driver until something else uses some CPU (AMD 64 3000) - it then starts clicking and crackling. If I just go in to the GR options and confirm the settings (without changing anything) it's fine again. Has anyone come across this before, or have any idea what might be causing it?

make sure your windows is optimised for background services, it sounds like priority is being taken from the ASIO driver by other applications, leading to an increase in the minimum useable latency
