Are there are ASIO Drivers from a SB Live CT4740 Sound Card??

Hi Folks, I was wondering if anyone One knew of any Near Zero Latency Sound Card Drivers from a Creative SB CT4740 Sound Card?? Or Know of a Cheap Sound Card that does have Near Zero Latency Drivers??

I am Going to be Doing some Live recording through a Mixer into My PC and then Overdubbing Guitar ,Bass, and Vocal Tracks (No Effects accept analogue effects),I can Do the Live recording through the Mixer into My PC with No problems but when I want to Over Dub guitar and Bass Tracks the Latency (Even at the Lowest setting) make it so the guitar and Bass Tracks are not in Sync and it Very Difficult to Keep time when everything you play takes about 1/4 second before you can hear it....

I am Running a 3.2ghz P-4 system with a Gig of Dual Chanell DDR Ram and 320gb of Drive Space......

Any Tips in this Area would be Great.......

ThanX folks.....Cheers

System Specs

the more tracks you playback/record at once, the higher the latency needs to be for the computer to process it all

I have no idea what you are talking about.
Multitracking audio on a PC the way you describe is possible for more then 10 years
whitout ASIO or low latency HW.
Any full duplex card + audio sequencer can do this whitout problem.

Hi, I will Only be Recording One Track at a Time...I will be Recording Live Drums and Guitar Mixed through a 10 Chanell Mixer and the Into My PC and recorded as a Single Stereo track...

Then i will be adding a Bass Track and then a Guitar Track and then a Vocal Track all useing "N-Track Studio"....I have No Problems recording the Guitar and Drums it is Just when I try to add other Tracks that I get Latency problems.....(I play a Note on the Bass/Guitar but it takes 1/4 second before I can hear it which Makes it impossible for me to Keep time)

Can you please Explain to me Why I shouldn"t be haveing Latency Problems and if it isn"t Latency I am Experienceing then what Is it and How do i fix it???

ThanX

PS: If I mute the Existing Tracks then I can not hear the Playback so I have nothing to play allong With.....

Aha, then you are probably trying to record->monitor what you play through the soundcard->sequencer!
(direct monitoring)
You should monitor what you play live from the mixer!

The Thing is when I record the Bass Track i don"t go through the Mixer I go directly into the Sound Card...But even if I mute the track I am Recording (Bass)so all I hear is the Track I am Playing allong With (Drums+Guitar) when I play back the recorded Mix the Bass is Out of Time with the Drums and Guitar even though it is In Time when i am Recording it..

It is Like it takes 1/4 second for the PC to Record what I am Playing.....

I guess I might Have to save up and get one of those M-Audio cards with Zero Latency Direct Hardware Monitoring.....

ThanX anyways......Cheers

kX does have zero latency monitoring, but you need to configure the DSP/mixer correctly

if you are using the default DSP, mute the wave fader in the main window, then go to the i/o window and unmute/increase the level of the input you are using

The Thing Is I don"t think these Drivers will work with my SB PCI Sound Card....I might Just Pick up a Cheap Used Audigy 1 or 2 card and see if the KX ASIO drivers Improve the Latency enough so i don"t have the problems I am haveing....

ThanX Folks

Well, it's your money,
but there is absolutly no reason why you could not do such a basic and simple
recording task with kX+sblive.

Well If the KX drivers actually worked with my Card then Maybe I could do it But these Drivers do not Support my Sound Card so I can"t use them (As Far as I know)......

Cheers

Right. kX only supports cards based on the EMU-10k1 or 10k2 chip, your card uses the ES1373 or 71 chip. But before you spend any money try the ASIO4All drivers:

http://www.asio4all.com

Read the PDF manual that comes with it before you start to tweak it. If that doesn't work for you, then hit Ebay for a used Audigy card.
