HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
I'm about to buy a 5770 because of it's price tag (172$ CAN). I just wanted to know before a do so, is that any card = or better for +-20$ of it (150-210)?
newegg.ca please for suggestions. |

Read the review, you won't regret it. I don't know about other cards near the price range, but basically the 5770 is an awesome card. Major question is, at what resolution will you play your games?

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
This card is has the best value in the 5xxx series cards in terms of performance per price . Maybe other members will help you find the best offer at newegg Canada .If I were you I would pick Sapphire.
Good luck. |

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Well thank you very much. Sapphire though wasn't a hard choice to make since XFX is giving away Battle Forge with it and Sapphire Dirt 2.

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
i've got the 5770... it's no HD4870x2... but it's DAMN solid
4 of them in crossfire are DAMN slick though (if you can find a bloody motherboard that allows you to stick 4x 2 slot consuming cards in it.

In any case. I'm about to pick up one of these 5770's anyone know how this card would stack up against my OC'd 4850? just curious because I would like this to be an upgrade and not just a sideways slide in performance (with the given addition of DX11 of course) I might go Crossfire in a few months but for awhile it will be one card so I kinda want to be sure that it will be at least a little better than my 4850 (I will be OCing the new card as far as it will go so no real worries there. )

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
An overclocked 5770 using Asus Voltage Tweak or MIS's After Burner should match or beat a 4890. Couple that with DX11 support and you'll be one happy camper.
Unless a 5830 is released I'll be going with one myself in Q1 2010.

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
I also wanted to know, if you really get 100% GPU power when Cross-Firering 2 cards together?
And here is my final build, I should be getting it in a month or 2: Optical Drive: SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R Case: Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB GPU: SAPPHIRE 100283-2L Radeon HD 5770 PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V RAM: OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 CPU Heatsink: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 CPU: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R CPU + Motherboard Combo. You guys see any problem? |

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Two 5770s together are smoking fast. I was using two in a test bed on a 30 inch screen for a while, very very capable setup. surprisingly quiet too. I think id rather have two of them in a system than a 5970 due to noise and heat etc.

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Not 100% really even dual chips video cards don't equal 2x single one performance. but they are close.
I see no problem in your case , I love Gigabyte M.B never had a problem with them , Crosair is considered the best PSU manufacture , Seagate 7200.12 HDDs are good as well as Western Digital Black Caviar , Antec have nice cases although sometimes I see them "over priced" , didn't try Samsung burners though but I heard no issues from people using them. |

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Nice build!
![]() Performance scaling with Crossfire (or SLI) is never perfect, just like it isn't perfect when you overclock or if you substitute the card for a model with twice the number of stream processors. That said, the technology seems to have really matured and if you take a look at the recent review http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews.php?reviewid=890, you can see that even when going from a two chip setup to four chips the scaling is still pretty good.

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Thanks for the help guys on my question
ZeroX looks like a brilliant system. I, personally, cant find a weak point in that build so enjoy it. It should run like a top.

Re: HD 5770? (High-end gaming)
Nice build, ZereoX! Some advice though - go for 1TB drive and look for reference HD5770 with batmobile cooler ( "Phoenix" shroud)
