RADEON BIOS editing: a noob question...

I am a noob, so sorry if this is a stupid question...
I have a Gecube Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB card, unfortunately there is no software from Gecube to monitor my videocard like ASUS and others have. Since these tools will only work with the manufacturer's card, will there be any problem if I change the Vendor ID in the BIOS file (for example, to ASUS) from my videocard (without changing anything else) and flash it to use ASUS Smartdoctor?

9800 pro's have no thermal diodes or anything, so i don't think many fo the features would work anyways
