Next generation audio - worth the wait?

In the future, with the continuous growth of the new audio standards such as Dolby Digital True HD (DD+) and DTS-HD on the blu-ray and HD-DVD discs, it is highly possible that Creative's next soundcard will be able to decode 8 channel 96/24 digital signals. This is probably the number one "big thing" that is coming up in the near future. I've got this nice set of Z-5500 Digital's from Logitech which is a decent enough 5.1 system. As well as Audigy 2 eX, modded to X-Fi. Should I really upgrade my whole set to 7.1 and the sound card just so I can get the full experience of DTS and DD HD? After all, I am a "sound freak." And what do all of you people think about these upcoming standards, do they really worth it?

System Specs

you audigy to is not really modded to an x-fi, you're just using the software for it

as for decoding - most soundcards can do that, it's the encoding you want to wait for

Surely he means in the same way that the A2ZS does DD/DTS decoding on the card itself, removing load from the CPU?

The way Creative were talking, I wouldn't hold much hold for encoding (and DDL is 5.1 only isn't it?), so this seems like the next best thing.

Heh I would like proper 5.1 encoding, as I have a Sony HT-DDW750 Home Theatre System, but only recieve 2 channels from my Audigy2 ZS!!! What a waste!!! Though the system encodes 2 channels to Pro-Logic II, which sounds decent.
