I have an HP OEM Audigy 2 ZS... cant install software

I bought what turned out to be an HP OEM card (No firewire, or gold connectors).. other than that it is a genuine ZS, and is branded SB Audigy 2 ZS...

I have a problem where I cannot run the ZS2 install CD, which I have downloaded as it says it cannot detect supported hardware. Is there a way I can get around this??

I have also tried the Audigy4 softmod... which was a right nightmare to sort out, but I got there in the end, although the install was very messy. At no point during this install did I get the unsigned drivers "continue anyway" box which is stated will appear. I had to manually direct device manager to 2 or 3 files it was looking for. Ive had mixed results with this install, and cant get the surround demo to work with all speakers (only front left and right), despite ensuring ALL sections say 5.1 (including default windows). My DT3500s are connected via Digital Din cable, so should work well, from what Ive read.

Anyway, is there a way around the original ZS2 install disk not detecting the card properly, I can only assume it is because it is a pc builders OEM version..??

ctcomp supports Audigy 2 ZS series card Models SB0360/SB0290, SB0350/SB0250 , SB0352

If you'rs is one of them then try patch the installation CD using ctcomp (search the ctcomp.exe and instructions from this forum). The model number is printed on a sticker (on card board) with long serial number (like M1SB0350xxxxxxxx.. --> where the bolded part is the model nuber).

It should work well, if your card is one of those models I listed on my prev. post.

If it's not, you need to figure out the ID number for your card and add it manually into ctcomp.dat by following these instructions, or ask someone here to help and add your card into ctcomp.dat.

For more information on this matter search this forum with using the ctcomp as a searching criteria.

DrMekon, I have been looking at your post for a long time. I can't see you are misdirected any more so that have to tell you there are THREE types of IDs of Creative Products:
- Vendor ID
- Device ID
- Subsystem ID

"SB0360/SB0290, SB0350/SB0250... " are Device ID. "20021102" is Audigy2 ZS's Vendor ID. Take Look at the Appendix. Unfortunately, they all are IDs.
You will get your card working on your PC if you get correct answers.

How to install applications:
Ok, well, if you wanna modify to install the ISO CD, simply add "00000000" to "ID" of ctcomp.dat (DO NOT have to add your ID number into ctcomp.dat! that prabably messes up your system again).

How to install drivers:
- Find your Device ID, ie. DELL Audigy2's Device ID is SB0243; yours sould be SB0XXX.
- Rename "ctp0350w.dat" which can be found in drivers folder (normally under \Audio\Drivers\wdm\win2k_xp\data) to be "ctp0XXXw.dat" ← 0XXX is your Device ID.

When there are new drivers released, do so for updating manually.

Appendix:
10021102=SB0240 Audigy 2 Platinum 6.1

10031102=SB0243 Audigy 2 (OEM'd For Dell??)

10071102=SB0240 Audigy 2 Platinum 6.1

20021102=SB0350 Audigy ZS

20071102=SB0380 Audigy4 PRO
