Did you try smart recorder? You might want upgrade to audigy 4 pro software with pax 2.32 sp2 drivers
You do have sp2 for xp correct?

Sounds like there is something really wrong.

If not yet tried, try with ASIO (or WDM/KS (Kernel Streaming)) drivers. You need software that support this driver mode to get it working.

If ASIO or WDM/KS don't fix this issue, just install the original Creative drivers (may need to use clean sweep method (or use driver cleaner) to get completely rid of those modded drivers).

no i'm still using sp1, because i wasn't able to get rid of those "security" b*shit in sp2 (example: I disabled the services and so on but still got the "bla downloading from the internet can be dangerous..bla- warning messages before a download)

but these drivers require sp2 ?

the problem exists in windows and in programs like cubase where the asio driver is used.

I'm only using creative or modded drivers because of EAX support, instead I would exclusevly use KX-audio drivers, which are best for recording imo...

ps: i found a guy with the same prob, he's got an audigy4 and original drivers... 0_o

That's the weird thing because ASIO and WDM/KS should bypass the .recording source settings (source and level) showing on CT surround mixer --> settings are made inside the software instead. You need to select only the the source channel(s) on surround mixer when using mentioned driver modes.
